For starters, commercial property investors need a significantly larger deposit. Unlike residential loans, no lender's mortgage insurance cushions the risk. According to Nick Wormald of Grow Capital, expect a 65-70% deposit for standard assets. 🏚Luck wasn’t on the side of variable this Melbourne Cup Day. The of Australia ( ) has increased the cash rate a quarter of a percentage point to 4.35 per cent.



All big four and many economists were expecting today’s rate rise, given that the latest inflation figures were higher than expected.

It’s a tough time for home builders who are struggling to stay afloat after new housing starts plummeted by over 20 per cent in 12 months.

Rising and lengthy construction delays in the wake of COVID have seen new starts dry up at a time when consumers are getting hit with higher and economic uncertainty.

Association figures lay the situation bare, with the 100 biggest in the country recording the lowest start figures in 10 years, down to 57,830 in the year to June.

Owner-occupiers are refinancing their in record numbers, desperately trying to get the best deal possible while rise and the cost of living bites.

There were well over 30,000 new in Australia for the month of May alone, and it’s easily the highest monthly figure we’ve ever recorded.

It isn’t just owner-occupiers that are currently keen to seek better terms on their loans either, with increasing home loan by around 7 per cent in May.

When you combine the monthly figures of both owner-occupiers and investors the total value of rose by 8.1 per cent, to over $21 billion and that’s 22 per cent higher than at the same time last year.

Nervous appear to be heading for some relief with economists tipping the will keep them on hold when it meets.
