🐾 Meet Dodge, our courageous 9-year-old Cattle Dog! 🐾

Dodge recently came to Melbourne Animal Specialist Hospital after experiencing some worrying episodes of feeling unwell. After thorough diagnostics, a CT scan revealed a bile stone lodged within his common bile duct, causing a painful obstruction as well as further stones within his gallbladder. To ensure his recovery, our specialist surgeon performed an emergency surgery to remove the stones overnight, giving Dodge the best chance to get back to his happy, healthy self.

The road to recovery was slow and steady, but with lots of IV fluid therapy, medications, and, most importantly, plenty of TLC from our dedicated staff, Dodge made an incredible comeback. After a few days of round-the-clock care, he was finally ready to return home to his loving family, tail wagging and spirits lifted. We’re so proud of Dodge’s strength and resilience, and we’re thrilled to see him back on his paws, enjoying life again! 💙🐶

Here is a little story about gorgeous Wally, the adventurous 8-year-old Dachshund, who recently went after a mischevious snack!

A quick visit to MASH had the team springing into action, expertly inducing emesis to bring up the foreign material. With a soothing anti-nausea injection, Wally was soon back on his feet and went home happy as a larry! Not sure if he was more relieved or feeling a little bit guilty.

🐾 Meet Leo, the brave 3-month-old Kelpie, who recently had quite the tasteful adventure! This little guy was rushed to the emergency department at MASH after swallowing a push pin.

Despite his owners' best efforts, the pin couldn’t be retrieved from his mouth. Leo needed an emergency exploratory laparotomy to safely remove the pin and avoid the risk of gastrointestinal perforation.

We’re thrilled to report that Leo’s surgery went beautifully, and he recovered rapidly—eating like a champion post-op! Thanks to his resilience, Leo was able to go home ready for more (hopefully safer!) adventures.
