Play-based Early Intervention sessions for children - Building foundations for success-
WE DID IT! So very excited to announce that we have received our Provider Registration approval today after a long and in depth auditing process! We are now able to expand our services to provide some additional support categories… so stay tuned!
It’s the last day of our holiday program today! What a wonderful week we have had together - learning about emotions and how to interact more confidently with others. The children will take home their ‘Emotions toolkits’ today - full of tools to support their ongoing journey in understanding and regulating their emotions and making and being a good friend. If you’re interested in finding out about our next holiday program, send me a msg or email [email protected]
Such a great morning with my little friends at the Shine Foundations Social and Emotional skills group therapy holiday program! We met our friend The Colour Monster, practised sharing, taking turns, using each other’s names when we spoke and made playdough faces with lots of different emotions! Looking forward to another great day tomorrow 😀
Social and emotional skills group therapy program
Still a couple of spots left in our holiday group therapy program for 3-5yr olds …. Feel free to share if you know anyone who might be interested.
I’m so excited to let you know that I am now a fully certified DIRFloortime practitioner!!
DIRFloortime aligns so wonderfully with my child-led, play based philosophy and gives me a framework to assess and support children in their developmental capacities.
The DIRFloortime website explains it so well:
“DIR® is the Developmental, Individual-differences, and Relationship-based model (pronounced saying each letter as an initialism: D.I.R.). DIR provides a foundational framework for understanding human development and learning and how each person individually perceives and interacts with the world differently. It outlines the critical role social-emotional development has on overall human development starting at birth and continuing throughout the lifespan. The model highlights the power of relationships and emotional connections to fuel development. Through a deep understanding of the "D" ( the developmental process) and the "I" (a person's individual differences) we can use the "R" (human relationships) to promote healthy development and to help everyone reach their fullest potential.”
Does your child struggle with social interactions, social anxiety, understanding emotions or emotional regulation? Come to our inaugural holiday program these school holidays!

Welcome back for 2024!! We are excited to start therapy sessions for Term 1 this week and look forward to getting to know our new little friends who are joining us for the first time.
Happy New Year and a HUGE thank you to everyone who has been part of our business throughout 2023. What a journey it has been, moving from a partnership to a company structure and going through the NDIS registration process.
I am thankful to have had some wonderful professional development opportunities and am excited to be completing the DIRFloortime certification course in February.
Getting to meet other Early Intervention providers and network with some amazing business women has also been a highlight.
I’m looking forward to 2024 and to continuing to work with my current awesome little friends and their families and meeting new ones.
If anyone is in need of Early Intervention support in the Geelong area, check out my friend Jess at Here You Grow!
So excited to have finished the introductory course to become DIR Floortime certified! It was four very late nights having to jump onto the live presentation online from New York but it was worth it! I’ve already started implementing some new ideas I’ve learned and have seen the difference in the level of engagement from the children!
This is why we offer play-based therapy and see some incredible progress with the children we support😀
Such a great time of thinking and learning around being confident to engage with young children through music and movement with the team at Play Childcare & Kindergarten, Geelong. Thanks for inviting me to come and share with you!
Final preparations for our first Professional Development workshop this week! Super excited to be sharing what I’ve learned over so many years with other educators & hoping it can make a difference to their practice 😀
We are so excited to welcome our new Personal Assistant Justine to our team! Justine will be working with us to help support us with all our administration tasks. We are very grateful for the extra pair of hands in helping us get everything done behind the scenes. Keep an eye out for some emails with some changes in procedures as we make a few adjustments now that we have Justine to take care of the admin!

Threading straws on spaghetti, catching tricky fish, building marble runs and playing hide and seek with little dinosaurs in kinetic sand all help to strengthen hands and fingers, develop finger isolation skills, work on pincer grip and improve hand eye coordination. Working towards our goals doesn’t have to be boring!
Are you looking for support for your child with developmental delays? We would love to help! We offer 1:1 Early Childhood Intervention support at your home or learning environment (childcare, kindergarten or school) for children up to 9 years old. NDIS or private enquires are welcomed 😀 We offer our services in the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Term 3 has started! It warms my heart so much to see the progress in my little friends, some of whom I’ve now been working with for a year. They have gone from very limited interactions with me during our sessions to saying hello and goodbye, joining in music time, copying words and gestures, trying new things and being willing to touch a variety of sensory play materials!
Do you know someone with NDIS funding who is looking for Early Intervention support? I have a few spaces left for weekly or fortnightly sessions which can be done at home, school, childcare, kindergarten or in the room I use at a Community Centre. Contact me to find out how we can help 😀
Developing fine motor skills is vital for so many daily activities. We love providing opportunities through play using music, blocks and creative ideas to engage children’s interest and have fun while we practise!
If you’re looking for Early Intervention for your child I’d love to help! Contact me via the button below or email [email protected]
Dinosaurs are so much fun!! We used our interest in dinosaurs as a basis for practising listening and staying focussed while we read a story, we practised our fine motor skills picking up the small dinosaurs with tongs (a some coloured rice and kinetic sand for sensory fun!), and we added in some counting for my little friends who have been showing some interest in numbers.
Hello!! Welcome to Shine Move & Play for 2023!! I’m so excited to be back up and running for the year and getting back to seeing my little friends! If you haven’t met me yet, my name is Bronwyn and I’m a qualified Early Childhood teacher with a Masters of Special Education (Early Intervention). I am passionate about working with children and their families through play-based therapy to help them build foundations for success.
I have a few vacancies at the moment so if you or someone you know has a child with NDIS funding contact me and I’d love to connect with you!
What a privilege it is to support these kids (& more). I love finding out what makes them tick and the things they love the most and using those as a starting point for helping them develop the skills they need. As you can see there’s a lot of variety in what I do and a whole lot of fun as well! I am almost done for the year and ready for a month off but if you or someone you know is looking for play-based therapy next year let me know!! We’d love to help!
Using stories and games to learn about colours, including some new keyword signs to support communication, is a fun way to encourage engagement.
Are you or someone you know looking for Early Intervention support? Contact me - we’d love to help!
Learning about emotions (& tools to help us regulate ourselves) through stories and play (in person and in Tele-therapy sessions). I’m excited to have resources such as Kimochis to support children’s engagement in learning about and understanding their emotions and learn tools to help them identify and navigate feelings.
Such a great day learning about Kimochi’s emotional coaching with Doing Life Together - can’t wait to include it in my sessions.
Excited to be attending some Professional Development today around emotional regulation so I can learn some new tools and strategies to support my participants even more 😊
We took some of our Early Interventions sessions outside this week to enjoy the sunshine. My little friends particularly enjoyed exploring colour and texture, working on their fine motor skills as they painted on the concrete with edible paint. I use edible friendly sensory ingredients as much as possible as a lot of my little friends love to explore the world using their sense of taste.
Our NDIS Early Intervention sessions are tailored to each child’s interests and goals. This week we have worked on fine motor, visual tracking and listening skills through painting with ear buds & building with small blocks and making threading patterns. We have explored new physical challenges that support our core strength and ability to cross the midline. We have practised persistence and social skills through playing board and card games and trying new things. We include music in every session and have loads of fun together!! Contact me if you’re looking for play-based Early Intervention for your child!! I’d love to help 😀
Last day of class for this term! I’d love to have you join me next term! Bookings opening soon!
Our Mini Stars friends explored some nursery rhymes through sensory play today - all the while practicing fine and gross motor skills as they manipulated playdough, used their pincer grip to pick up rice, threw balls, turned pages in books, helped ducks to swim in jelly and squished colours in sensory bags on the floor. In our group time we continued to learn about how our bodies move through music and movement. Come and join us sometime soon!
