I would like to introduce you to my affordable law firm in the hope that I might be able to assist you or someone you know with a family law or intervention order matter.

I set this firm up after 17 years of practicing as a Barrister and witnessing the barriers people face accessing reliable and authentic representation. I am committed to being open and honest about fees, timelines and outcomes and never drag out matters unnecessarily.

My core business is acting for clients in intervention order and family law matters however I can also assist with summary (simple) criminal matters.

As far as I’m concerned, the days of stuffy lawyers are out the window. I pride myself on being approachable, empathetic and less formal than your average lawyer. The process is often stressful, daunting, overwhelming and completely foreign to most people so I make it a priority to make my clients feel at ease from the get go. The lawyer/client relationship is an important one, can be long-standing and requires trust on both sides. On that note, I can meet at a cafe you feel comfortable at, a business hub or online if that’s more convenient.

After working in the industry for two decades, he is familiar with the various approaches of Barristers, Federal Magistrates and Judges.

David specialises in:

Crimes Family Violence (Intervention Order applications and Contested hearings):

Family violence is without doubt one of the most sensitive areas of the law. Making an application and taking it through to contested hearing will often distress litigants, especially when it involves children.

Clients can find the process of navigating between proceedings in the state court jurisdiction and the family court jurisdiction confusing. Magistrates now have the power to dispense with family court orders.

Equipped with two decades of experience, KH Family Law can turn an appearance in the Magistrates’ Court into a life changing event.

Additionally, whilst at the Bar, David acted as a Independent Children’s Lawyer for 15 years which adds another layer of knowledge and experience that most lawyers simply don’t have.

Nothing matters more than the welfare of your children. Children take on considerable stress during times of conflict. David will always act in the best interests of children with upmost sensitivity and aim for you to have the best possible relationship with your child/children throughout and at the end of the process.

Criminal, Civil and Commercial litigation:

David commenced his legal practice as a Judge’s Associate in the County Court. He assisted his Judge in conducting criminal and civil trials throughout his appointment. From this experience, David can help clients navigate through the criminal/civil justice systems with the primary objective of achieving an outstanding outcome.

While David’s primary focus during his time at the Bar was family law, he also practiced in the three trial divisions of the County Court including the Criminal Division, the Common Law Division and the Commercial Court.

David has litigation experience in the following jurisdictions: Magistrates’ Court, District and County Court, Supreme and Federal Courts.
