🩷 In Honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🩷 Here are 5 ways to decrease your risk of developing breast cancer: THE BASICS Research shows that diet, body weight, and exercise can reduce cancer risk by 40% and improve recovery by 50-60%. Small changes in your lifestyle can make a big impact! YOUR ENVIRONMENT Free radicals, which cause DNA damage, come from both our body’s metabolism and external chemicals. Be mindful of what you inhale, eat, and put on your skin—your choices matter! HORMONE THERAPY While HRT has its place, certain therapies have been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. Always discuss your individual medical and health history with your health provider and make informed choices. TESTING Stay proactive! Ask your doctor about blood tests, genetic testing, clinical exams, mammograms, and ultrasounds to know and monitor your health and body. PREVENTION OVER CURE Taking steps today could make all the difference tomorrow. #breastcancerawareness #pinkribbon #healthtips #womenshealth #fightlikeagirl #earlydetection
Lab testing and why it’s important! 👉🏻Yes we have busy schedules 👉🏻 Yes it’s hard to fit those tests in around work. 👉🏻 Yes you might have to wake up earlier. 👉🏻 Yes you’ll have to wait on your morning coffee and breakfast until after your blood tests. 👉🏻 Yes you might have to change your training schedule for the week of testing… To be asked to do another task on top of an already busy schedule can be overwhelming 😫 HOWEVER, working with lots of clients that come in wanting help with their symptoms, this is what I see… A client tells me she thinks she has a hormone imbalance but she comes back with gallstones. A client tells me she has constipation and IBS and her results come back with Endometriosis. A client tells me she wants to increase her skin health and her blood tests come back with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. A client wants help with anxiety and she has thyroid nodules and has hyperthyroidism. And so on… If your a person that prefers data and answers over guesswork (when it comes to your health and body), and your willing to put in the effort to get results then contact us here to get you started 🩷 #integrativemedicine #womenshealth #labtest #performance #nutrition

HOW LONG DO I STAY ON MY SUPPLEMENTS FOR? 🤷🏻♀️ If you’re following your treatment plan 100%, these are my expectations. 2 weeks: noticeable progress but still some work to be done. 4 weeks: Some of your health symptoms should be gone. 6 weeks: We start to decrease dosage and see how your body responds. 8 weeks: We may be able to stop some products and see how your body responds without the support. Factors that come into play: your environment and lifestyle as well as genetic predisposition. For your individual treatment plan to help you on your journey to health, send us a message or email [email protected] #health #supplements #fitness #women #naturopath #integrativewellness
People often tell me they’re an ‘all or nothing’ type of person. Well the problem with this is, it becomes a yo-yo effect with a mix of progression and regression and you never really get to where you want to be. It’s not about eating LESS food, it’s about eating MORE of the RIGHT foods. To learn and understand which foods are right for you and your health and performance goals, and to support your body longterm, send us a message to get started. #nutrition #performance #consistency #results
When I ask a client, how much alcohol they drink, sometimes I can I get … “oh not very much, it’s only social”. ‘Only Social’ for some, will mean 8 standard drinks TWICE a week!! So let’s talk alcohol! So we understand they why behind the action steps advised. 👉🏻Alcohol is metabolized primarily in the liver through a process involving enzymes and converted to aldehyde dehydrogenase which is responsible for removing it from the body. Vitamins which help this process are mainly Zinc, and NAD+ derived vitamins. These vitamins can also be depleted by too much alcohol consumption which can affect neurotransmitters and influence symptoms such as fatigue, mood disorders and memory loss. If your body is unable to eliminate the alcohol…otherwise known as a hangover…you put more pressure on your liver which can generate heat as well as cause skin disorders, restlessness and insomnia, blood glucose imbalances and increase inflammation. This isn’t to say, you should never drink but it’s definitely an area I would strongly encourage moderation. And if you’re working on specific areas of your health, sometimes it’s also about having a time of abstinence. When we’re asked to give something up, even for a time, we quickly find out how much it means to us. What does drinking mean for you? Breakfast!! No one seems to have an appetite for breakfast these days and everyone wants smoothies. The problem with this is… 1. You should be waking up hungry for food! 2. Your breakfast sets your pace for the day; physical energy, mental focus and metabolism. So you should be eating foods to support all three of those areas to optimise your performance and how you feel. Because if you feel good, you’ll want to do more and get more out of life right? Perfect breakfast is to have 👉🏻Protein: eggs, fish or animal protein 👉🏻Healthy Fats: olive oil, avocado, nuts (small amount) 👉🏻Carbohydrates: These sources depend on your current body composition, weight loss goals, the time you train and any current metabolic imbalances you have. #breakfast #nutrition #optimalhealth #performance #weightloss #fitnessgirl

Regulating your blood glucose levels is absolutely essential for… ✅ Weight Loss ✅ Stable energy levels ✅ Mood and concentration ✅ Exercise recovery and performance ✅ Hormone balance ✅ Decreasing inflammation An optimal fasting blood glucose reading should be between 4 and 4.5 mmol/L. If you’re interested in knowing how your body responds to different foods your having, and how your body metabolises carbohydrates a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) is perfect for a short term assessment, for long term lifestyle management. At Wellixa we’ve teamed up with @Vively to use their CGM to give you specific data to optimise results. @Vively CGM also integrates with other software such as Apple Health and Oura rings so you can all your info collated for you to view, assess and make informed decisions. If this is something that interests you, comment below or send us a private message to get your organised. #glucose #health #weightloss
How much coffee you should/can have is really up to the individual and unlike other supplements or foods, no matter how much coffee you drink, how you digest, metabolise and excrete it, will always be the same. Factors that can influence how you metabolise coffee * Genetics: There are fast (CYP1A2) and slow (CYP1A2) metabolisers of coffee. * Caffeine is metabolised in the liver, which is why it can increase heat in our body and affect other regulatory systems. * Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors which influences the release of neurotransmitters, GABA, Dopamine, Serotonin, Adrenaline, which can influence our levels of anxiety, alertness as well as mood. * Caffeine is completely absorbed 1 hour after drinking, however because it is converted to Paraxanthine, it stays around in our body alot longer. Paraxathine has Nitric Oxide affects which increases blood flow, exercise tolerance and alertness. This can also have an effect on heart rate and blood pressure. * Caffeine can increase histamine and glutamate levels which can increase prostaglandins. Prostaglandins equals muscle contractions! This is what usually causes the digestive complaints as well as cramping and heavy menstrual bleeding for the ladies. * Caffeine also increases gastric acid and can cause reflux or heartburn. As you can tell, I’ve done my research because I want to keep my coffee in my life. As for everyone else, always listen to your body and pay attention to what it’s telling you. It knows the way! #coffee #coffeelover #health #wellness #wellixa
SKIN!! My lovely client @shan.kerr does modelling for high end fashion and lifestyle labels and if you’re walking through @chadstone_fashion, you’ll often see her gracing the billboards wearing the latest trends. To clear Shan’s skin the focus of treatment was to support, 👉🏻Lymphatic clearance to decrease congestion. 👉🏻Liver support to balance hormones and decrease androgens. 👉🏻Support of the Hypothalamic Pituitary Axis to down regulate cortisol. 👉🏻Dietary measures to increase fibre and antioxidants as well as decrease high glycemic index foods to decrease sebum and congestion. For Shan and her partner, a healthy lifestyle and diet are apart of who they are. It’s great to see how they still manage to make the time to put their health first and make it work despite their very busy social and career calendars. I love working with them to continue optimising and targeting health areas that come up, so they can continue to be the best version of themselves . Thanks so much for the video testimonial ❤️ #skin #naturalbeauty #womenshealth #naturalmedicine
QUESTION 🙋♀️ Client: If I take a break from my treatment plan, will I undo all the hard work I've put in? This is a common question that I get from clients and it's quite a normal one to ask because as humans, we all want the path of least resistance. However! It doesn't always give us the greatest results! Just like anything we want to achieve in life there are specific steps we have to take to move forward towards those goal posts. Anytime we press pause, we either stay stagnant OR we get further away from achieving them. Imagine if you were saving to buy a house and you had a specific budget you had to follow to be able to achieve that. Anytime you spend from that budget, it moves you further away from your purchase. My suggestion is...Stay on track!! Food, wine, parties or whatever it is that you think you're missing out on, will always be there. Put yourself first and finish what you've already invested in. Once you're happy with what you've achieved, you can allow yourself some flexibility to have the lifestyle you want without regressing.
