To make the most of the Magistrates' Court non-sitting days this week, we have also engaged in 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. Sophie invited Dr Angela Sorotos and Dr Ben Jones, clinical and forensic psychologists from Vincent Papaleo & Associates to present on the fascinating topic of 'high risk personalities', and Kristina Kothrakis arranged sessions with Kate Da Costa and Holly Boylan on client confidentiality and file management to enhance our practice and organisational skills.

Thanks to Gabriel Chipkin and Jalal Razi for their practical session on “the improper use of police powers for ulterior purposes.” The presentation was a salient reminder of the importance of defence applying for disclosure material and rigorously scrutinising the accounts of police officers when conducting searches to ensure that the arbitrary use of powers are identified and excluded.

We acknowledge National Sorry Day today, 16 years since the first National Sorry Day in 2008, and reflect on the injustices experienced by First Nations People in Australia. We recognise the ongoing struggle for recognition, healing and reconciliation for Stolen Generations Survivors. We commemorate this date as we continue to play our part in the healing process for First Nations People.

Today we hosted a morning tea for the Cancer Council Australia's Biggest Morning Tea. This is a cause close to our hearts as many of our colleagues and their families have been impacted by cancer in some way. We had a fantastic turnout and thank everyone who attended.
