Happy Friday everyone,
I think it’s so important to check in with one another and ensure we recognize the signs of potential burnout and are always watching out for them.
****How are things going for you?****
Let’s share and help one another out! 💞
When life get heavy, beyond busy, advocacy and other challenges, and the whole parenting + caregiving duties feel like they are wearing you down,
it’s crucial to take measures to prevent total burnout.
Let a share tips with one another, if we can!
Thank you everyone. 💙

Autism Supermoms,
****Important note****
Some of the signs of caregiver burnout can also point to other medical issues (or diagnoses). that may need immediate medical attention.
Please reach out to your loved ones and also seek advice from your medical provider.
There is simply no replacement for consulting with a trusted professional who knows you and your situation.
Who takes care of the caregiver?
We do!
It’s our responsibility to also advocate for ourselves; we must speak up, seek support, seek respite, and do what we can in order take care of ourselves so that total burnout does not happen. I do fully understand how hard this is.

Dogs Detect Human Stress Smell, Affecting Their Mood and Choices
Research shows dogs exposed to human stress odors make more pessimistic choices, indicating a negative emotional state.
The study highlights that human stress smells affect dogs' learning and perception of rewards.
This finding can improve the care and training of companion and working dogs.
The deep connection between human emotions and canine responses is more profound than previously understood.

The warmest of welcomes and thanks to Rotary Club of Sandringham, our newest supporter to join the Different Journeys community. Mel Spencer met with the Rotarians last week, and following a presentation and fruitful discussion, we are delighted that Sandringham Rotary Club has offered to cook the barbecues at Sandringham Swim nights, commencing in September.
The barbecues are an important part of our swim events, giving family members the opportunity to enjoy their time together and fostering connection with other families.
Thank you Sandringham Rotary Club for making a difference.
That little face!!! X

I have worked in the community and private sector for over 15 years providing therapy across the lifespan. In the last two years, I have trialed and effectively worked with clients using telehealth platforms to assist them to holistically explore factors that might be impacting their psychological well-being. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate challenging life and relationship experiences, with a particular interest in working with parents to support them in their parenting journey.
At the core of my practice is the belief that individuals require a space where they feel listened to and cared for and collaboratively work together with my clients to discover practical and meaningful ways to navigate their challenges and move forward in a meaningful way.
I am available on Wednesdays between 10am and 3pm for telehealth appointments, and am open to having short consultations prior to an appointment booking to determine if telehealth would be a good fit for you.
Amazing person
