Flesh After Fifty: changing images of older women in art celebrates women and aging by challenging traditional representations of women over fifty in art and society.
PSA: MAPh is looking for women over the age of 50 to pose n**e for renowned Australian photographer Ponch Hawkes.
In 2018 curator and arts professional Jane Scott approached Ponch Hawkes to embark on an epic project to photograph 500 Victorian women over the age of 50. Across a dozen photo shoots, they have so far photographed over 450 volunteer participants, modelling naked in celebration of the diversity and reality of older women’s bodies. This is the final chance to participate in Australia!
Ponch and Jane would like to extend an invitation to people who identify as women, over the age of 50 from all ethnic backgrounds and abilities, to participate in a photoshoot at MAPh. Wheelchair access is available. All participants receive a small copy of their portrait and will be included in the full exhibition, 500 Strong, in November at the museum.
To express your interest, get in touch with MAPh via email or give us a call, and we'll let you know all the details. We'd love to hear from you!
