Remember those groovy movies in the “80’s when people were laughing and dancing and drinking in the kitchen to soul and jazz?
This is my soul, my jazz, while joyfully baking an Italian ricotta cake..
Thank-you Dirty Three..
Lots of decks getting a renovation.. I love seeing them transform from crusty to handsome, it makes all the effort worth it.

Hi all!
It’s been a busy year, and at some point you need to stop, take a breath, and reflect..
My moment will come.
For now, here are images from a recent project in Rosanna:
Removing walls in a mid-century house to open the living area up, then painting walls and ceiling beams to freshen up the space even moreso.

It’s almost Christmas in July 2022.. and the fun is only just beginning..
From laying trenches, replacing retaining walls, to cleaning gutters, laying concrete and making water play areas, the diversity of my work really inspires me..
Thanks to Mel and Rob for giving me the chance to re-surface their kitchen and laundry bench tops.
The effort was definitely worth it!
I had some fun upgrading a slightly used timber gate a few weeks ago.
Despite being well worn, the hinges were still in good condition so they have now been re-born as part of a new, taller version of the old boy.
Good times!
I had the pleasure of repairing a really mouldy shower recently.. apparently the tiler didn’t bother to tile to the floor, but there was a simple solution to get it cleaned up again....
I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas 2021. We’ve got a lot to reflect on and plenty to appreciate.
I was lucky enough to be asked to remove a bed of well established plants just prior to the break, and now the area is ready for a new burst of colour..
All the best for a terrific 2022!
December has been busy so far.. a nice way to end a year of ups and downs.
One of the best projects I’ve helped complete was a wall of framed prints. It was terrific to realise Katherine’s vision and display some prints with great sentimental value.
It’s great to be busy.. and with the amount of spring rain circulating in Melbourne at the moment, you can see the grass grow if you stand still long enough. This lawn really looked super neat after a decent trim..
Today I completed a garage transformation; converting a garage into a studio/retail space for a local ceramicist.
I’m happy to say it turned out well for her..
Backyard clean-up in Heidelberg Heights.. great space, just needed a good ol clean; weeding, sweeping, raking, pruning, re-instated borders, now it’s ready to plant out!
In between lockdowns and downpours, there are always gutters to cleanse....
Now is a good time to get your roof and gutters cleared. Today I cleaned a great house in Montmorency and despite it being surrounded by gum trees, it should remain pretty clear until this time next year.
It’s very busy right now, which is fantastic. Last year was a different ballgame. Mid-year we bought a 30 year old caravan to renovate and I spent many nights and the odd weekend working on her. This week we sold her. It’s a strange feeling to part with anything you’ve invested time and energy in. Now another family will enjoy this caravan and for that I’m pleased. Here are some before and afters..
Anything is possible!

It’s been an interesting past few months for us all. I’ve had some fun designing and building pallet furniture with my two ‘apprentices’.
Large amount of mulch laid down to create a level pathway and support new plantings.
Old bamboo trellis removed, new trellis installed, climbing rose trimmed and then reinstated.
In completing this stage of an extensive property clean-up, I removed years of discards; bricks, plant pots, steel, timber, roof tiles, plastic bags, and a mass of blackberries.
Using old picket fencing, I created a fence to help keep a little veggie garden contained, and keep rabbits at bay!
