Our Lifestyle Tip of the Month: Move, Move & Move Some More!

We all know movement is good for us – whether you’re hitting the gym or pottering around the garden you feel the benefits! But why?

Movement gets your blood pumping and your heart thumping 💃

🏃‍♂️ Regular physical activity strengthens your heart, lowers blood pressure, and improves circulation, which means more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to your muscles and organs.

🏃‍♂️ Moving those limbs and breaking a sweat releases feel-good chemicals called endorphins. These little wonders can lift your mood, reduce stress, and even help manage anxiety and depression. It's like a natural happiness potion!

🏃‍♂️ And guess what? Movement isn't just good for your muscles and mind - it also keeps your bones strong 🦴. When you engage in activities like weightlifting, dancing, or even a simple stroll, you're helping to your body maintain healthy bone density. It's like giving your body a solid foundation to thrive on!

🏃‍♂️ And it’s good for the brain 🧠 too – improving memory and cognition through supporting the growth of new brain cells!

So, whether you're hitting the gym, dancing like nobody's watching, or getting into the garden for some weeding you are doing yourself a world of good!

And if aches and pains are holding you back from moving the way you want call us to make an appointment with one of the osteopaths at Radius. We’re always here to help.

What is Cranial Osteopathy?
Cranial osteopaths sense the rhythmic movement of fluids in our tissues and its relationship to the whole body. When the body sustains an injury, these fluids can become imbalanced and can be treated using subtle hand pressure to release any strain patterns. Cranial osteopathy is suitable for all ages, in particular babies and children

Back to school? Pack for the back!

Here's your reminder to make sure your child is wearing their backpack correctly and regularly check it to make sure it remains comfortable as their body grows. 🎒

Here are things you can do to check if your child's backpack is right for them ⬇️

✅ Choose a lightweight bag, with adjustable padded straps
✅ The bag should sit no higher than 3cm above your child’s shoulders
✅ Your child should be able to look at the ceiling without hitting their head on the bag
✅ The bag should not swing from side to side as the child moves. Try to get a bag with waist straps if you can!

Osteopaths manage many spinal conditions but that's not all. They are trained to manage a huge range of conditions affecting the whole body.

Your osteopath considers how different parts of your body interact with each other. This may mean, for example, evaluating whether your spinal pain or discomfort is being triggered by your joints, muscles, ligaments, bones or a connection that points to multiple causes.
