The research vessel RV Flip is the only vessel in the world capable of shifting from horizontal to vertical position in the middle of the ocean.
Flip is not a small ship, it is about 108 meters long and weighs 700 tons
Engineers designed it to be able to move to a vertical position with 90 degrees straight, so that the front of the ship at the top is 17 meters high (i.e. a 5-storey building high) while at the bottom is submerged 91 meters long, i.e. that most of the ship is submerged underwater. Which helps the ship's stability and resistance to waves, the transformation process takes about 30 minutes, in which the seawater is pumped into huge tanks in the back of the ship, which makes it sink into the water to become the ship in a vertical position, and this ship is considered one of the most important ships in the field of scientific research of seas and oceans.. 💁

Oarfish are large, greatly elongated, pelagic lampriform fish belonging to the small family Regalecidae. Found in areas spanning from temperate ocean zones to tropical ones, yet rarely seen, the oarfish family contains three species in two genera. One of these, the giant oarfish (Regalecus glesne), is the longest bony fish alive, growing up to 8 m (26 ft) in length.

The underbelly of a baby stingray. Who knew that these sea creatures could have such amusing looking faces? 😃

Stingrays are a group of sea rays, which are cartilaginous fish related to sharks. Their mouth and gills are located on the ventral side of their body while their eyes are found on the dorsal (top) side. They also have spiracles just behind their eyes, which are small openings that allow some fish and amphibians to breathe. Stingrays cannot see their prey after capture, so instead they make use of smell and electroreceptors to detect the bioelectric fields of the sea creatures around them. These electroreceptors are a network of special sensory organs called ampullae of Lorenzini, which are actually small, fluid-filled electrical receptors situated near the stingray's mouth and look like tiny black holes in the animal's skin.

This is one odd looking croc! 💁‍♀️🐊

The Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus), also known as the gavial or fish-eating crocodile, is a crocodilian species found primarily in India and Nepal and live in and around rivers.

The gharial stands out due to its long, thin snout, which is well-adapted for catching fish.
Adult males have a distinct boss at the end of their snout, resembling an earthenware pot, which gives them their name “gharial.”

Mature females can reach lengths of 2.6 to 4.5 meters (8.6 to 14.9 feet), while males can grow up to 3 to 6 meters (9.8 to 19.8 feet). 😮

Gharials are highly aquatic and spend most of their time in rivers. They only leave the water for basking in the sun and nest-building on moist sandbanks.
During the cold season, adults mate, and females dig nests in spring to lay 20–95 eggs.
The hatchlings remain in shallow water during their first year and gradually move to deeper sites as they grow.

Unfortunately, the wild gharial population is listed as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List as they have declined significantly since the 1930s. Threats include habitat loss due to sand mining and agriculture, fish resource depletion, and harmful fishing practices. Conservation efforts in India and Nepal are focusing on reintroducing captive-bred gharials.

This village has been floating on the sea for 1300 years.
This is the only floating settlement in the world. The people of this community are called Tankas or Tanka People and are 7000 in number.

They were sometimes termed as ‘sea gypsies’ by the Chinese and the British.

Their homes are floating on the sea. These boats are equipped with living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Everything starting from weddings to funerals are held on these boats. The whole life of the people of the Tanka tribe revolves around water and fish.

People of this tribe are mostly involved in the fishing trade. While many work in the salt industry some dive into the sea for pearl fishery.

It is believed that the Tanka people have not set their feet on land for 1300 years.

These images were captured in Al Wakrah, Qatar, on December 26, 2019, during an annular eclipse.

The photographer chose a place with an open horizon where he got a perfect view of the eclipsed sun emerging from the sea. When the sun finally began to rise, it looked like two pieces, some red horns piercing the sea. It soon became a crescent, with the ‘Etruscan vase’ inferior mirage effect visible.

Due to its shape, the phenomenon was nicknamed the ‘evil sunrise.

Meet the Angel Shark - which looks more like a ray than a shark ! 💁‍♀️

They have flattened bodies and broad pectoral fins, giving them a strong resemblance to rays.

They typically grow up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) in length and weigh around 77 pounds (35 kg).

Angel sharks can survive about 28 to 30 years in the wild and have litters of 7-25 pups after a gestation of 8-10 months.

They were once common throughout the subtropical waters of Western Europe and Northern Africa although are now primarily found around the Canary Islands.

The IUCN lists the angel shark as critically endangered. It is estimated that the population of angel sharks has declined by up to 90% in 45 years, mainly due to overfishing. 😢

For 13 thousand dollars, Englishman Brandon Grimshaw bought a tiny uninhabited island in the Seychelles and moved there forever. When the Englishman Brandon Grimshaw was under forty, he quit his job as a newspaper editor and started a new life.
By this time, no human had set foot on the island for 50 years. As befits a real Robinson, Brandon found himself a companion from among the natives. His Friday name was René Lafortin. Together with Rene, Brandon began to equip his new home. While René came to the island only occasionally, Brandon lived on it for decades, never leaving. By oneself.
For 39 years, Grimshaw and Lafortin planted 16 thousand trees with their own hands and built almost 5 kilometers of paths. In 2007, Rene Lafortin died, and Brandon was left all alone on the island.
He was 81 years old. He attracted 2,000 new bird species to the island and introduced more than a hundred giant tortoises, which in the rest of the world (including the Seychelles) were already on the verge of extinction. Thanks to

Everyone knows that the whale is a mammal, but what few know is that a small whale is breastfed, but not through direct contact like other land mammals...
Instead, the female whale throws away her milk while her child is near her to breastfeed, but whale milk has a high-fat content of 50%. Therefore, the form of milk is thick and sticky and does not dissolve in water.
So the baby whale can grab and eat the milk. A perfect breeding geometry.

Mantarrays are flat-bodied cartilaginous fish known for their distinctive diamond-shaped bodies and long, whip-shaped tails armed with one or more venomous spines.

These thorns are used for defense against predators and can cause painful stings if stepped on or touched.

Mantarrays inhabit a variety of marine environments, from shallow coastal waters to ocean depths, and are often found resting in marine beds of sand or mud.

They feed mainly on small fish, crustaceans and mussels, using their flattened bodies to bury themselves in the substrate while hunting. Despite their potentially dangerous sting, manta rays are generally docile creatures and only pose a threat when annoyed or accidentally stepped on.

12 feet 9 inch long Alligator Gar was caught by the Albright family in 1957 on Big Cypress Bayou above Caddo Lake and was well over 300lbs.

Caddo Lake is a 25,400-acre lake and bayou (wetland) on the border between Texas and Louisiana, in northern Harrison County and southern Marion County in Texas and western Caddo Parish in Louisiana.

A translucent blue tang.This is an Acanthurus coeruleus, or a blue tang surgeonfish.

The fisherman found the starving Magellanic penguin covered in oil on the beach.Took it home and nurse it back to health.When fully healed, after it changed feathers, the penguin disappeared, the fisherman thought he'll never see his friend again.
But he was astonished when after a few months later the penguin returned.Every year hence,his penguin friend travels miles across the sea to spend 8 months with him and spend the rest breeding off the coast of Argentina and Brazil.

A Japanese diver has been entrusted to oversee one of Japan’s Shinto shrines, which is located beneath the surface of Japan’s Tateyama Bay. Over the decades, he became best friends with one of the marine creatures who live around the shrine, an Asian sheepshead wrasse named Yoriko.

This crab has teeth in its stomach! But not only to eat.... 💁‍♀️🦀

Meet the tiny Ghost Crab, also known as “Sand Crab” or “White Crab” which is only about 2-3 inches in size. Their pale coloration and nocturnal behavior led to their name.

They have three main stomach teeth that rub against each other creating a series of guttural growls that communicate during aggressive interactions to ward off predators.

They also have the unique ability to store oxygen in airbags located close to its gills. When the creature buries itself in the sand during winter hibernation, it survives on this stored oxygen.

They inhabit tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, often found on sandy beaches and they can change body color to blend with their surroundings. They do not like the water.

So next time you're at the beach and hear growling, it may not be your stomach. 😁

The mystical Underwater Path. Magical Zakynthos Caves, Greece.
Zakynthos is one of the largest islands in the Ionian sea. In fact, it is the second most visited isle apart from Corfu. The lands in Zakynthos are quite mountainous, and just like the other Ionian islands, there are a number of fertile valleys and green plains that depict superb landscapes on the island. However, it is on the West coast where Zakynthos offers one of its most stunning views: the blue caves. They are also known as the blue caves of Volimes, the picturesque village where they are located.
These blue caves have interesting arches created by erosion along thousands of years, which allow for going through these caves and get actually surrounded by this surreal environment. They are obviously the soft spot for those who like diving.
According to the cultural belief, gods had accidentally scattered some precious stones in the sea during the creation of the world
