Smile of the day bought to you by our Coco 19th September 2024🥰
We had a bit of a tough day yesterday. Coco was very quiet and a bit flat, so I was unsure of what today's visit to Dr Amy would bring. We knew going into this, that juggling both kidney and heart issues would be tricky, and that it would take some tweaking to find the right dosage of medications for her little body (just like every human, every cat will react differently). Today we found that Coco was quiet dehydrated from the diuretics which we believe is why she was feeling miserable yesterday. Because of her dehydration we were worried that her bloods would show that her creatinine had increased, which would not have been good. But, once again she surprised both Dr Amy and I with the results...her creatinine is staying stable at 280. We have lowered the dose of diuretics and (because we cannot give her subcutaneous fluids because of her heart) today I am syringing some extra water to help with her dehydration and this afternoon she is a much brighter girl..... Here is a little video of a much happier Coco after returning home from The Cat Doctors back in her favourite spot, watching the world go by and keeping an eye on all those pesky little birdies... Please continue to send love and keep Coco in your thoughts...this is a rollercoaster of a journey but she continues to surprise us all with her strength and will to live...I will not let her suffer but I will keep fighting for her as long as she has a good quality of life...love Coco so so much 🥰
We had a really tough couple of days this week where I honestly thought it was time to say goodbye to our Coco.....but this girl is a little miracle. She never ceases to surprise both myself and Dr Amy with how hard she fights back and her indomitable will to live. Going to see Dr Amy on Friday was terrifying. I was so worried that the news would not be great but Coco (once again) surprised us all!. It seems the medications are beginning to work. There was no pleural effusion (fluid in her chest) her left atrium had reduced from 20mm down to 15mm and she was breathing without effort. In fact our Coco is no longer in heart failure!! Yes she.still has restrictive cardiomyopthy, yes she will be on heart medication for the rest of her life and yes she could go into heart failure again at any time whether it be weeks or months but for now she is stable. She is pretty much back to her usual self, exploring the garden, purring, letting me know in no uncertain terms when she is not happy with something with her big burmese YEOW and she is still my little buddy, my little snuggler. Dr Amy at The Cat Doctors has been absolutely amazing and I have no doubt that without her in Coco's corner we would have lost her. I understand this is a temporary reprieve for Coco and that eventually her heart or kidneys will not bounce back, but for now each and every new day with our Coco is a blessing that I will happily accept.....I love this girl so very much. Thankyou to all who have contributed to Coco's care to help enable this miracle...you are my hero's ❤️
Mmeeooww goodmorning everyone!! This is how I love to wake my mumma every morning I'm such a good girl but still no one wants to adopt me...mumma and I just don't understand....please share this post with your friends and family in the hopes I will find my very own home with a family to love me furrever... love you. Your little Bon Bon ### 💋 Bonnie our gorgeous little Manx who fought the fight of her life against FIP and won has not had one suitable application!! Not long after Bonnie arrived at RCR we found she out she had FIP which until recently was considered to be a death sentence. Thankfully for our Bon there is now treatment available which has saved her life. Bonnie is a fighter and a survivor. After 3 months of very expensive and comprehensive treatment Bonnie went into remission and is now 12 months post treatment and finally has the all clear!! If anyone deserves the very best home full of love it's our little Bon Bon. Bonnie can be a little shy at first but is a real foodie so is easy to entice. Bon is a Rumpy Manx she is approx 18 months old, vaccinated, desexed microchipped, flea and worm treated and a very healthy little girl .Manx are an adorable breed who are often compared to rabbits when they run as they seem to hop with their back legs. They are known for their sweet disposition and are considered a national treasure on The Isle of Man. Bonnie would be best suited to an indoor only or indoor with catio home and with a person or family who could shower her with the love she so deserves. Mmeeooww everyone. Thankyou for all the messages of love and support you have sent to mumma and I. I've not had a very nice few days but today is day 4 post op and I'm starting to feel much betterer..... I love you... even more than I love my roast chicken😉 Your boy Zeus ###💋
Love this girl so so much. We were back to see Dr Amy yesterday as our Coco has been having a tough couple of weeks and was refusing to eat so I needed to syringe feed her. Dr Amy did a very thorough check including a full abdominal and heart ultrasound. The good news is everything is stable and there has been no progression with her heart or kidneys issues. The not so great news is we now suspect she has IBD on top of her pancreatitis. We have adjusted her medications and she has now started to eat a little on her own. It's awful watching them age and seeing all the issues that can follow but as long as she has a good life, is comfortable and happy I will continue to do all I can for her...I'm no where near ready to say goodbye and neither I believe is Coco. She is my little buddy and so very very precious ❤️
Did you know that Blue has now been part of our little RCR family for almost 3 years. He was found wandering the streets of Ballarat on his own, cold, hungry and very confused. It was obvious to me when I picked him up there was something not quiet right. After many tests including MRI and Spinal tap and being under the care of Specialist Neurologist Dr Sam Long it is believed that our boy Blue is suffering from a degenerative brain condition called Cerebellar Abiotrophy. Thankfully for Blue his condition has plateaued and hopefully there will be no further degeneration. What does this mean for our Blue? Basically Blue is the sweetest, most innocent boy you will ever meet. He has a bit of an unsteady gait and can be startled easily and is a little vague but that just adds to his innocence and charm. Here is our gorgeous Blue boy enjoying some one on one time with his mumma...how lucky am I!? 🥰
It's been a bit of a bumpy month or so with our Coco...whilst we've had a lot of really good days, we've also has some not so good days. Coco's senior bloods were all ok they did show she is suffering from mild to moderate chronic pancreatitis and anyone who has been through it knows there are always bumps along this road. Coco's food intake has not been as good as it usually is and the last day or so it has decreased more so today I have begun syringe feeding her AD. We are booked to see Dr Amy on Tuesday for an ultrasound so please keep our girl in your thoughts. At the moment she is resting comfortably in her favourite window seat enjoying some sun. Any contributions towards her specialist visit and ultrasound would be be greatly appreciated. BSB 923 100 Acct 305 836 223 or you can call The Cat Clinic directly on 03 9533 8955. Thankyou 🙏
There is something supremely stunning about black cats and our 'not so' Little Stevie is no exception. Stevie joined our RCR family around 3 years ago after being thrown from a moving car as a tiny kitten. He then made his way under a house where he was trapped, scared and hungry for over a week before being rescued I'm sure you will all agree Stevie has grown into a big, beautiful very loving boy 🥰
Mmeeoow...time for a beauty session...mumma says in all the years I've been part of our little RCR family she has never seen me so happy, taking such good care of my myself and even exploring the catio!! I've a new lease on life and it's all because of you...so...thankyou.... love you, Princess ### 💋
