All Smiles at the 34th Pier to Pérignon 4km Swim from Sorrento Pier to Portsea Pier.

The P2P is a unique 1 wave open water swim with over 900 swimmers starting at the same time. It all began 34 years ago when Ted Baillieu and Robert Robertson raced for a bottle of Dom Pérignon

It was 2nd time lucky this year with the swim cancelled in February due to high Northerly winds. Things got pretty choppy as the Northerly winds blew again.

Congratulations to all the swimmers braving the tough conditions and thank you for your continued support of this wonderful event.
A big thank you to the team of over 150 volunteers who pitched in to deliver a World Class event. Hats off to the extraordinary Water Safety Crew.

These events simply don't happen without the support of Sponsors.
Thank you to our Title Sponsor Kay & Burton, Gold Sponsor Crestone Wealth Management and our Bronze Sponsors
Cousins Tours and Travel for the wonderful prize taking the winner to Dardanelles Swim in Turkey. Tintuppa Landscapes and Garden Maintenance Smith Builders Light On Landscape Pty Ltd Balter Brewing Company

Great to work with the team The Portsea Camp who support the P2P end of race celebrations and presentations.

Looking forward to P2P 2023.

Pier to Perignon New Date : Sunday 10th April 2022.

Thank you to all our Swimmers, Volunteers and Sponsors for your support with the 2022 P2P.

After careful consideration of all other possible tides, dates & logistics for the swim we have landed on the 10th April as the most suitable date.

Whilst the 27th February was a possibility we needed to consider the impact on our good friends at Williamstown Life Saving Club hosting the WOW Challenge Swim on the same date.

We will keep you posted in coming days with all the updated information and do our best to answer all the frequently asked questions.

Please hold off on any emails so our hard working team of volunteers can focus on the new event.

Stay tuned for more information.

RACE POSTPONED
Near Gale Force Northerly winds creating rough sea conditions and impacting water safety have continued throughout the morning.

We anticipate re-scheduling the P2P on Sunday Feb 27. This will be confirmed in the next few days by email and here on facebook.

We thank you for your understanding. As a Surf Life Saving Club, Portsea is committed to the safety of all swimmers and volunteers.

RACE POSTPONED
Due to the continued rough sea conditions and in the interests of water safety the directors have made the hard decision to postpone the eve for a future date.

Expect an announcement on the date soon.

WIND & SEA CONDITIONS WARNING
Swimming Conditions Today

Strong 20 Knot Northerly Winds and Choppy Seas are forecast for today.

This will be a challenging swim for all competitors.
Swimmers can expect large chop coming directly into shore.
If you only breath to the right expect to have a lot of water hitting your face when you breath.

We recommend weaker swimmers and inexperienced open water swimmers to consider your ability to complete todays swim.

At this stage the swim will proceed as planned and conditions will be monitored throughout the morning.

Yours in Safe Swimming

P2P Race Director

P2P 2022 Swimmer Prize Draw
6 Nights Return Air Fares to Swim the Dardenelles - Hellespont Swim - Generously donated by Cousins Tours and Travel

The prize is a six night return package to Turkey for one person, valued at around $5000, that takes in the cultural and historic highlights of Istanbul and the Gallipoli Peninsula, before competing in the annual Dardanelles swim event from Europe to Asia.

The significance of the prize is that this iconic event was started just six months before Robert Robertson and Ted Baillieu did the first Pier to Perignon swim in 1989. Both events are over a similar distance, they attract a similar number of entrants each year and, quite uniquely, are both swum in one wave.

To win the draw competitors must be present at the presentation stage ceremony post swim.

Pier To Perignon 01/12/2021

We hope you are all safe and well and ready to enter the water once again for the “Pier to Perignon” which next year celebrates its 34th consecutive year.

Registrations are about to open and 2022 will see us return to our normal race format, meaning the reintroduction of a single wave, which as you all know, means that places in this iconic event will be limited and highly sought after. This year we have refined the priority system that we introduced last year and have decided on the following:

• 9.00am on the 2nd of December - People who have swum the event 5 times or more

• 8.00am on the 3rd of December – Open to all entrants

5 times or more
If you have swum this event 5 times or more, you will receive a separate email shortly with a priority link to use on the 2nd of December. If you do not receive this email and you believe you have swum the event 5 times or more, please advise us directly By Email with all your details and the years that you completed the event. If it was under a different name, please also advise all the possible options. We will then check our race database and if we can confirm your information, we will then make the necessary changes. Please understand that acceptance of changes is at our full discretion but be assured we will do our best to confirm the information you provide.

The registration link for everyone else will be made available via the website at 8.00am on Friday 3rd December 2021.

People who are not on the database for 5 years or more will be blocked by the site when trying to enter until this time.
