Takeshi Asai at Dizzy's!
TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE VIA www.dizzys.com.au
Takeshi Asai has been one of the most individual, exciting jazz pianists since his arrival on the New York scene in 2005. Praised by New York writer CJ Shearn for his “slick harmonic sense and deep improvisational palette,” his catchy picturesque music is informed by world travels that have taken him to France, Germany, UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines.
Asai's early New York career was marked by contributions to the award-winning group WaFoo and has since worked in enriching solo, duo and trio settings with an array of artists including Catherine Schneider, Pascal Combeau, Maxime Legrand, bassists Bill Clow (who toured with Art Pepper) Mark Wade, Bob Gingery and drummers Anthony Pinciotti, and Brian Woodruff, just to name a few.
Improvisation intersected in two fields when Asai participated in a meaningful collaboration featuring Mathias Duhamel's live paintings paired with his impromptu musings, that also incorporates his electric music creation, aka ""Le Projet Electrique.""
Festival appearances have included the Staten Island Jazz Festival for the last ten years with WaFoo, and the Bray Normandy Jazz Festival in France back in 2015. His latest release Solo Live in New York: Volume 2 finds drawing on a wide range of sources including Gregorian chants, the classic jazz repertoire and blank slate improvisation, a la Keith Jarrett.

Two final shows, come along tonight to help us end 2018 with a BANG! 💥💥
Dear Artists, Patrons and everyone in between,
Dizzy’s has loved your support throughout 2018, booking shows, attending a show, following our social media and watching us grow into the business we are today.
It is with a heavy heart that I am letting you know Dizzy’s will be closing as of October 1st at our current location. For those who are close to the business you may know we have been struggling to compromise with the owners of the venue as to when we are using the space, to ensure regular shows and sadly it has come to an end.
To any artist who has a show coming up with us, we sadly will have to cancel your show due to not having a venue ready to host you in. Anyone who has purchased tickets to an upcoming show will be contacted via our ticketing company FOMO events with a refund of the ticket price. If you are having any issues please feel free to contact myself or the ticketing company:
[email protected]

Saying this however we will be back in 2019 with a new venue, new attitude and a new lease of life on the iconic name that is Dizzy’s Jazz Club.
We look forward to your continued support in 2019, please follow our socials to keep updated about us in 2019!
