pages are constantly being targeted by scammers. A day does not go by where we see these fake Meta accounts alerting us and clients that our pages are under review.

⚠️ Be wary of any messages like this.

Meta/Facebook support is awful and it will take you many hours (if not months) to resolve issues.

Ensure you have 2-Factor Authentication on your account 📱

And do not click 🖱️any suspicious links especially those demanding an immediate link click to a random website.

⛔️We call on the minister Clare O'Neil MP to investigate this problem and hold Zuck to account. It’s horrible that Meta can’t prevent these issues with basic code.

What is with these fake pages constantly harassing us? 😡 Can't Facebook's sophisticated AI tell when their *own* logo is being used to set up a new Page? And then nix it before the bots and bad actors start wreaking havoc?!? 😳
The scammers were mostly favoring phishing DMs lately, including supposed customer service complaints (with links for zip files). Or comments. Or @ tagging your Page. Now it seems tons of them *share* your Page posts because you can't untag yourself. Still, each time, my team and I tap through to the scammy Page to REPORT and BLOCK. Unreal. 🤦🏼‍♀️

What is so troubling to me is that many folks out there are falling for these various scams. And as a result get their account hacked, compromised, or shut down even. Ugh! 😫 The worst is when they get into your Ad Account and start racking up your credit card bill with erroneous ads. How in the heck Meta's AI approves these is beyond me.

Friends, please remember how critical it is to the safety of your personal profile, Pages, Groups, Ad Account, personal data, and credit card to *fiercely protect* your account!! Don't click on links in DMs. Don't fall for these scammy FB Pages trying to trick you. 🤺🥊 Make sure you have two-factor authentication set up using a proper authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile or similar. 📱🔐

I recently attended a Merri-bek City Council business event to learn about how our community is operating as a local economy.

The key insights I took from the event were:

🟩 Merri-bek like most inner city suburbs is expecting larger population growth. By 2035 a further 16,400 people are estimated to live here.

🟩 The younger population with a focus on young professionals is the main demographic of the area. 15-34 year olds are more likely to live in the area compared to similar established councils Monash, Whitehorse, Glen Eira and Greater Dandenong.

🟩 41% of the population have a bachelor degree compared to 29% Victoria average.

🟩 Healthcare is a strong economic driver along with new healthcare hubs such as the Coburg health precinct, expected to drive more jobs. However, council is 7,000 short in providing affordable housing in the local area which will put pressure on the sector to attract talent to travel to healthcare centres and hospitals. They are delivering 300 through a housing affordability scheme, which is better than zero I suppose.

🟩 Another key driver of the economy is non-employee professional services. The presenter mentioned this was due to factors like Uber drivers which makes me think if true, it’s likely most of the people are trying to top up their income due to the high cost of living in the area.

Overall, I learned more about the economy but didn’t get the jist that council was doing enough to solve the economic issues facing the area. Although some issues rely on state and federal government support, there are still key items a local government can do for businesses. This was evident that the presentation was very glossy on how good the area was, but did not mention the challenges or weakness that could be improved with support and innovation.
