Today we announced that the final release of DaVinci Resolve 19 is now available.

DaVinci Resolve 19 is a major new update which adds new DaVinci Neural Engine AI tools, over 100 feature upgrades such as IntelliTrack AI, Ultra NR noise reduction, ColorSlice six vector grading, film look creator FX and multi source editing on the cut page. For Fusion there are new USD tools and multipoly rotoscoping tools, plus Fairlight has new Fairlight AI audio panning to video, ducker track FX and ambisonic surround sound. Blackmagic Cloud has new features that make it easy to use for large companies with multiple users collaborating on the same project at the same time. There’s also support for DaVinci Resolve Replay so you can create live action replays straight to air during live events and convert those replays into promos, highlight packages and instant social media updates.

With this update, editors can work directly with transcribed audio to find speakers and edit timeline clips. Colorists can produce rich film like tones with the ColorSlice six vector palette and produce cinematic images using the new film look creator effect which emulates photometric film processes. In Fairlight, the IntelliTrack AI can be used to track motion and automatically pan audio. VFX artists in Fusion have an expanded set of USD tools plus a new multipoly rotoscoping tool which displays all of your masks in a single list. The cut page has new broadcast replay tools for live multi camera broadcast editing, playout and replay with speed control. There’s also support for live sync with Blackmagic Cloud which uploads media into a DaVinci Resolve bin while the camera is recording so editors and colorists can start working even while the camera is rolling.

(Black)magic Camera update for for Android 1.1!!!

Today we announced Blackmagic Camera for Android 1.1, which adds support for HDMI monitoring so you can view a larger image of what you’re filming. This means you get a better view of your scene which helps when checking focus, exposure and composition of your shot, and even watch the recording with multiple monitors so everyone on set can view the footage.

This update also adds pull focus controls to the camera so you can change the focus of the lens during a continuous shot. This allows you to gradually pull focus between 3 preset focus points in the foreground or background, giving you the ability to draw your audience’s attention to different elements and change the emphasis of a scene.

There’s also support for syncing media directly to a Blackmagic Cloud Organizations account, which allows you to select between syncing media to your personal account or your company’s organizations account when logging on, speeding up your workflow.

In addition, you now have the ability to dim the screen while recording, apply noise reduction or sharpening to the recorded image and use 3D LUTS while recording and monitoring.

Today we released Blackmagic Video Assist 3.15 update which adds support for Blackmagic RAW recording from Panasonic Lumix GH7 and Fujifilm GFX100S II cameras to Video Assist 5” and 7” 12G HDR models. When recording Blackmagic RAW with Video Assist 12G HDR, you can also save the camera’s settings in metadata. This means the white balance and exposure are encoded into the file to be read by DaVinci Resolve, however you can also override these settings later in the RAW settings palette when color correcting.

Today we announced Blackmagic Camera 1.4 update which adds support for organizations in Blackmagic Cloud. This means that if you are a member of an organization on Blackmagic Cloud and you are added to a project, you can login and sync camera recordings automatically to the project library.

This update also adds support for 2.76:1 frame guides, as well as adding frame guides to the HDMI monitoring output. You can also now customize the opacity when using grid overlays, making it easier to see grids for aligning shots when shooting horizontally or vertically. In addition, support for off speed recording has been added which means that you can select to record at 48fps and playback at 24fps, and your clips will naturally playback in slow motion.

Blackmagic Camera 1.4 update also corrects the image preview when using the anamorphic de-squeeze option, as well as improving audio input recording when an incoming call is received.

Today we released public beta 2 of DaVinci Resolve 19 which adds improvements and bug fixes for the DaVinci public beta including the ability to wipe or apply grades to clips or active node stack layers. This allows you to wipe between a still in the gallery and a timeline item to compare grades and also lets you choose between applying the grade to an individual layer or to the entire clip.

This update also adds support for the safe area overlay to be used in the edit timeline viewer as well as the ability to have the overlay display during playback in either the cut or edit viewer. That allows you to more easily review and position elements such as logos and titles so that they are always displayed without being cropped.

When using media management tools, you now have the ability to trim audio in your MOV and MP4 video files. This means you can save space by trimming unneeded flac or mp3 audio.

In addition, this update restores the ability to choose whether to update your DaVinci Resolve projects to the latest version when opening them. Now when you open an older project you will be prompted to back up the project before updating it to the latest version of the software.

This update also includes a number of bug fixes from the public beta, including addressing an issue where you couldn’t copy and paste transitions on the edit timeline, allowing compositions with alpha layers to be used on top of other clips, reinstating middle click functionality to apply compositions to Fusion clips and restoring sync functionality to the dialogue separator tool.

Today we released Blackmagic Cloud Store 1.2 update which adds support for user authentication to Blackmagic Cloud Store and Cloud Store Mini. This provides greater security by offering administrator controlled access to read, write and edit privileges through secure user logins. This update also includes better syncing to Dropbox, displaying a warning when files will exceed the Dropbox size limit, as well as improved sync speed to Google Drive accounts.

Today we released ATEM Switchers 9.3.3 update for ATEM Constellation 8K which adds audio mapping, allowing you to manually route audio channels from all SDI inputs to embedded audio channels in the SDI video outputs. This means you can connect a range of audio sources such as microphones and cameras and send them to various embedded audio outputs so they can be recorded on a HyperDeck. If the HyperDeck is set to multi channel audio recording then your recordings will have all the source audio you need for an audio engineer to completely remix your audio in post production.

In addition, this release adds colorspace and HDR override to ATEM Constellation 8K, allowing you to work with cameras that have a wider color gamut, up to Rec.2020. There are also a range of improvements to multiview for ATEM Constellation 8K, including the option to remove all borders, customize border colors, enable or disable labels individually, as well as improved quality in interlaced modes.

Today we announced Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1, the formal release of Blackmagic Camera 8.5 for Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2. This update adds support for Blackmagic Cloud workflows and allows you to upload clips from the camera’s new media pool to Blackmagic Cloud and even upload directly to DaVinci Resolve projects. The new feature for simultaneous proxy recording alongside Blackmagic RAW or ProRes means you can get your footage to the newsroom or edit suite in seconds, speeding up your workflow.

In addition, this update reduces SDI output latency. This means that when using the camera’s SDI output to follow the action or to feed displays such as massive screens at live events, there is minimal delay between what is happening live and on the display.

In addition, this update adds the ability to update and manage your camera via Ethernet, support for REST APIs for remote camera control, secure login and password support, network time protocol support, web media manager support, file transfer protocol support, selective tally color setting and SMB file sharing support.

This final release includes fixes for issues identified during beta testing, including general Blackmagic Cloud improvements, better pixel recalibration, more reliable data tethering with some Google Pixel phones, as well as improved H.265 and H.264 AV synchronization at 50, 59.94 and 60p on SDI out.

It was a story that captured the imagination of the world as Bernie embodied the defiant, “can-do” spirit of a generation that was fast disappearing. But of course, it wasn’t the whole story. It was an inspirational but sanitised retelling of one man’s need to come to terms with the lasting trauma of war.

Bernie’s adventure, spanning a mere 48 hours, also marked the culmination of his 60-year marriage to Rene (the late Glenda Jackson). The Great Escaper celebrates their enduring love, but always with an eye to the lessons we might learn from the Greatest Generation.
