Tassie Devil Coaching

Just like the Tassie Devil, we'll scavenge the globe to find you the most up to date, relevant coach

Initially founded as the Australian Cricket College in 2013 with a focus as an education provider (with the cherry of cricket on top), we pivoted in 2017 with the aim to be one of the leading online cricket coaching resources out there; then life happened. Now I'm back and we've rebranded to represent what we truly are; 100% Tasmanian, 100% Pure and dedicated to scavenge the internet to bring you

26/09/2021

So it's been a while - apparently life gets in the way sometimes!

I'm just letting you all know that a rebrand is happening to better reflect who I am and what I do (pending Facebook approval, of course!).

I'll be changing the name from "Australian Cricket College" to "Tassie Devil Coaching".

Why? Pretty simple really. Australian Cricket College (ACC) started out as an education provider first and foremost, who delivered cricket as a bonus element of the program. When the ACC wound up in this capacity, I took it on as a little coaching project, but quite often I'd get messages about the education aspect - a little trickery in the name for people!

So, fast forward to now, and life is very different. This page and all socials has been dormant, and the website has had very little to no action (my URL even lapsed). BUT, I am passionate about coaching, and I'm a passionate Tasmanian... So from today, excitingly, this will be known as "Tassie Devil Coaching".

It's still a project and I'm not sure where it'll take me, but I guess that is the exciting thing.

So buckle up and enjoy the ride with me and let's see what might happen.

Cheers,

Scott.

Some interesting rule changes... What do we all think?

Personally, I don't mind tweaks to rules but the beauty of the Big Bash was how easy it is to follow by the neutral spectators... Does this over-complicate things?

What an absolute star!

Do you feel women's cricket gets fair coverage in the general cricket media?

💥 Became the first woman to take two white-ball hat-tricks
💥 Became the first woman from Australia to take an ODI hat-trick
💥 Claimed her second-best ODI bowling figures against West Indies

It's , a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life.

Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK.

There's more to say after R U OK?
✅ Learn what to say when listening with an open mind
✅ Learn what to say when encouraging action
✅ Learn what to say when checking in
✅ Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life.

When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from su***de. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

Buttler brings it home for the Poms to take them into an unassailable 2-0 series lead... Zampa again going the journey.

What do you think the Aussies need to do, or are they just coming up against a good team, at home, in good form?

Let's not forget they've been playing cricket so are "in the groove", so to speak.

Thriller overnight with England icing the Australians at the death. The ever reliable Zampa, a statistically underrated bowler in Australia’s T20I turnaround, was hit to all parts which proved the difference in the end.

I've been away for a while - not going to lie - but I thought it was time to fire this page back up.

I'd love to know what sort of content you'd like to see... News, insights, opinions, tips and tricks, something completely different... Purely cricket related, because I'm not sure I can help with anything else... Drop it in the comments and let's see what we can do!

Patrick Mahomes became the NFL’s best quarterback by refusing to specialize in football 04/02/2020

Another great read on why generalisation trumps specialisation!

Patrick Mahomes became the NFL’s best quarterback by refusing to specialize in football In an age of early sports specialization, Mahomes developed into a superstar for the Kansas City Chiefs on the strength of a three-sport high school career.

Patrick Mahomes didn't stick to one sport, making him a prime example for multisport youths 25/01/2020

🙏🏻 to specialise and succeed is the 1 in a million shot. Let your children play multiple sports and find out what works for them.

I might sound like a bit of a hypocrite because I ran a school specialist academy, but those students who played multiple sports moved better, got fewer injuries and mentally were far fresher on a daily basis (not to mention 9/10 were the best cricketers!).

Patrick Mahomes didn't stick to one sport, making him a prime example for multisport youths More kids are specializing in a singular sport. For Mahomes, playing three sports wasn’t a detriment to his development, it was an integral part of it.

There’s a lot of talk about batting techniques and what is right/wrong/bad/good. The below is some classic discussion that’s re-ignited around Tasmania’s George Bailey.

Do yourself a favour and find some video of Bailey batting; I assure you he’s in a balanced position at the point of release...

It doesn’t matter how you get there and he (Bailey) has a very simple reason for doing it this way (even if it doesn’t look so simple!).

🤨🤔🏏 Where's this stance in the coaching manual George?

This is how George Bailey has been taking guard in the Sheffield Shield for Tasmania...thoughts? 🍑😆

Do sports academies deliver on the hype? 28/02/2019

Do sports academies deliver on the hype? We love sport. Nothing new in that. We idolise our elite swimmers, footballers, runners, tennis players and the rest. So, it’s little wonder so many young people harbour hopes and dreams of being Australia’s next big thing.

A lot being said about the BBL finals format, funnily enough after a team finishing top loses (6 out of 7 have lost after finishing 1st)...

I reckon it’s fine, and if you are good enough to finish top and get a home semi, then that should be advantage enough.

Thoughts?

Good luck to all the boys finishing up a great week of cricket today.

Would be excellent to see more schools, states and countries involved in this competition next year!

Congratulations to RSA First XI who have made the final for the World Schools Cricket Challenge today! Yesterday they chased down 200 with 5 overs to spare on the back of a Harrish Kannan century and some excellent partnerships. Special mention to captain Jack Conroy who made 151* on Monday also!

Our Second XI and Third XI both won their games convincingly today also in our first “Possum Wash”, and will play off for places today.

Good luck!!
