VU Swim Squad – the only triathlon specific swim squad in Melbourne’s West
We are blessed to have one of Australia's leading 1500m freestyle swimmers from over a decade ago, and current professional Ironman, coaching on pool deck.
Steph brings a unique viewpoint to triathlon swim coaching. As a 14yr old she swam a 1500m free in 16:46 (1:07/100m) to earn a Bronze Open National medal and she is now racing professional long course triathlon.
This wealth of experience at the top level of multiple sports is unique and means Steph understands the complexity of how to swim fast in a pool and also in a triathlon. Steph, along with head coach Mat, both share the unique ability to tailor our squad training to meet the demands of triathlon swimming.
If you're looking to take your triathlon/open water swimming to the next level, why don't you come down and try a session or two with Steph?
Our swim squad results speak for themselves, evidence based progression year in year out

Big, big shout out to Oliver Anthony who bettered his 5k PB by over 30sec with an impressive 15:31 for the first 5k in his 10k event.

2XU Triathlon Series Podiums
Each time an athlete finished in the top 10 at the six 2XU Triathlon Series races they collected series points. Over the course of the season this results in a leaderboard within each category.
We are proud to say we had six athletes finish in the top 3 within their categories over the series. These athletes consistently performed at a high level at every race, often finishing on the podium.
Darcy Williams had a fantastic season in the Elite Male competition. Four second place finishes in the fastest category highlights his consistency and has lead him to finishing equal first overall. This category included athletes racing in international events, to finish equal first is an extremely impressive achievement!
Our other athlete who claimed a series win was Oscar Wootton. Oscar dominated the Male Junior Elite category, winning every race he started. He had a top 5 fastest time overall in all of his races!

The junior squad had a great weekend of racing in Napier, NZ.
Lauren Hanna - Fantastic effort in her first ever international triathlon. Lauren gave it everything she had and has taken away a heap of learnings.
Oscar Wootton and Ty Davis were caught up in a crash while in the lead group. Hard day for the boys and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. These boys were the only two from the crash who got back on the bike and finished the race. Shows how physically and mentally tough they are! Plenty of motivation coming from them now for the back end of the summer.
Oli Anthony had three solid disciplines and has come away with a benchmark race he can build from. Oli is still very young and has plenty of upside in the coming years.
Oli Moxon let off a ripper and evaded the crash in the front group meaning he was off the bike with the eventual race winners. Oli pushed until the end finishing in a fantastic 12th overall in his first year of juniors!
