2022 - 23 Xmas Quick Fire Comp XMAS Comp is back, but with a few tweaks
Round 1 of the 2022-23 Xmas Comp is this Wednesday 14 December. The competition is on 14, 21 and 28 December, and 5, 18 and 25 January. There is no round on 11 January.
You can register at https://www.revolutionise.com.au/croydondtta/events/165531/ # or just send an email to [email protected]
There are special rules in place, and as such, the results will not go to Ratings Central:
"Aces are worth 2 points - and to be clear, the service must be a clean winner, if it hits the opponent's bat in the slightest, it's not an ace. If the opponent catches the serve in his non bat hand, it's still an ace.
In each game, a player can indicate that they are going to call for a "Quick Fire serve", and that will be worth two points to the server if they are to win that rally. A Quick Fire serve can only be taken no later after the player has reached 7 points (so can not be claimed if player has reached 8 points).
Only the server can claim the two points on Quick Fire. As there are 5 games, each player has 5 Quick Fire Serves, You can only use a Quick Fire serve once per game, so if you do not use it, you can not carry it over to the next game.
If you call for a Quick Fire serve and you serve an ace, that point is worth 4 points."
The format is a round robin of 4 or 5 people per group, and each match is best of 5 games. Depending on how you do on the night, you may be moved to a harder or easier group the next week. You can enter for all 6 weeks for $70, or on your choice of nights at $13 per night.
Just pay in person (not online) by EFTPOS or cash – preferably EFTPOS – on your first night, or on each night that you attend.

If you recall Proposition A-07 by the Iran Table Tennis Association to allow doubles serving from either left or right - this was converted to a Resolution at the 2021 ITTF AGM, and votes were heavily in its favour, which means that the ITTF will trial the concept.
If successful, it will come back as a Proposition for wider adoption in future.
The Women’s Singles World Championship match between Sun Yingsha (already with XD and WD gold at the event) and Wang Manyu will be at 1100 AEDST, and the Men’s match between Truls Möregårdh and Fan Zhendong at 1150.
