We are so proud to be part of ‘The Art of Gifting’ this festive season. Inspired by the colours of Florence’s most famous icon - Il Duomo, our artisans designed a unique hand marbled creation for - This design has been used as the backdrop and packaging for Christmas 2022. A collaboration of two quintessential Melbourne businesses working together as our city experiences it’s own renaissance after Covid.

VIVA FIRENZE ! ⚜️
Today we celebrate Florentine pride and honour the cities Patron Saint with Festa di San Giovanni.
Piazzas will be decoratively transformed into a medieval spectacular with characters in costume and traditional performances line the streets. The day is marked with a grand procession from Ponte Vecchio to the ‘Gates of Paradise’, Battistero di San Giovanni. Spectators cheer during a 16th century football match ‘Calcio Storico Fiorentino’ where athletic Florentine men wrestle their opponents in battle to win the finals.
The festivities conclude in the evening with crowds gathering on the Arno to watch the magic of ‘Fuochi di San Giovanni’ shoot from Piazzale Michelangelo… Auguri Firenze xx.

‘Marble with Pia Gava Workshop’.

We begin with a glass of Prosecco as Pia will share with you a taste of a recipe from her latest cookbook ‘Pia’s Table’ while she talks about her inspirations and passion for cooking Italian.

With your tastebuds content, aprons on, sleeves rolled up and Pia by our side we will commence guiding you through the centuries old Florentine craft of marbling paper by hand. Discover variations of colours, patterns and techniques by creating your own sheets of marbled paper. You have the option to take your masterpieces home or as an additional gift for your mother, allow us to send it to Florence to be transformed into a selected product from our range.

Hold our papers to the light as we reveal a unique surprise - a WATERMARK.

Featuring our name, ‘Il Papiro Firenze’ and the Bearded Iris, this traditional technique was first introduced in Fabriano Italy during the 13th Century - a Watermark certifies the papers rich qualities and identifies the origin of the producer.

As demonstrated within our range of hand L made stationery, Watermarks are created using a decorative thin wire laid during the wet-phase of paper making hence producing a translucent variance to the original fibres.
