We are a catering company with food stores in Richmond and North Melbourne that have a great reputation for good quality wholesome food. We have and continue to be in a good position to trade well throughout the current Covid-19 pandemic.
We are looking for an experienced Head Chef with a passion for good food to lead the kitchen team on a full time salary basis. The central kitchen in Richmond prepares the food for all the catering as well as the food stores.
We pride ourselves on having a great working environment but serious about quality, consistency and wholesome food.

Café Manager Position – Richmond – Immediate start
Sublime is a wholesome food-based café/catering food store concept with stores in Richmond and North Melbourne.
We are looking for a customer-focused Manager for our main Richmond store. This important role begins immediately as the incumbent Manager must reluctantly leave for imminent personal reasons.

Salary 50-60K experience dependant.

The café is open Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm and has a heavy emphasis on good quality wholesome food and coffee for both immediate consumption and to take home.

It is critical that this person has the following qualities:
• loves to work with people (customers and staff)
• is efficient, proactive and can work independently
• is flexible around responsibilities and hours
• has an eye for detail, presentation and cleanliness
• has excellent coffee making experience
• can work as part of a small team
• willing to "get their hands dirty"

As a Manager, the right person will also have these additional skills:
• be a leader and manager of people
• have initiative and a “get up” attitude
• ability to run the store like “they own the store”
• ability to understand basic financials
• social marketing skills

Let me tell you a story. The story of a hero. He brought happiness by the thousands. The people loved him. He was well respected and whenever people were given his gift their day would magically improve.

Do you know where the idea that carrots gave you night vision came from? Carrots contain vitamin A, or retinol, and this is required for your body to synthesise rhodopsin, which is the pigment in your eyes that operates in low-light conditions. If you have a vitamin A deficiency, you will develop nyctalopia or night blindness. Eating carrots would correct this and improve your night vision, but only to the point of an ordinary healthy person – it won’t ever let you see in complete darkness.

The idea that it might is due to a myth begun by the Air Ministry in World War II. To prevent the Germans finding out that Britain was using radar to intercept bombers on night raids, they issued press releases stating that British pilots were eating lots of carrots to give them exceptional night vision. This fooled the British public, as well as German High Command and an old wive’s tale was born.

My next door neighbour as a 7 year old was a pyromaniac - swear. He would light everything on fire; ants, bushes, clothing, his own house. In the famous lyrics of John Lennon “I like big butts and I cannot lie” wait... wait no, uh, that’s not right. “When they've tortured and scared you for 20 odd years, then they expect you to pick a career.” We’re a little tortured, a lot scared, and the boss said he’d whip us for another 20 years if you didn’t come in and grab one of this week’s salads!

I want you to imagine for me - a 9 year old boy at his grandmas house. This little sweet innocent angel of a child casually walking into a dining room- you know the sort- lots of china and things you can't touch.

And there- golden and white upon a dining plate of magnitude- egg mix finger sandwiches. Delicious, creamy, filling, egg mix sandwiches. Picture now that this poor little starving boy hasn't eaten in at least 15 minutes.

He scoffs the whole plate. Boy, oh boy, is he in trouble. That wooden spoon has never looked more terrifying.

However, you can eat as many of our finger sandwiches (at $2.50 a pop) and we won't even tell your nan.

How good. Comes in egg mix and our famous chicken mix!

When I was eleven my mother scared the hell out of me; By telling me that my food had Anti Oxygen Ants. They were good for me. How the hell can Ant's that don't breath Oxygen be good for me I panicked with fear as I prepared to ingest insects or go to bed hungry.

My mother was talking about antioxidants. Which Quinoa has a whole bundle of! Did you know we make our tart bases with Quinoa? The "Sacred grain"! Ant Free!

Did you know? You can make lasagna in the dish washer. All you have to do is put the ingredients together in a dish (either boiled noodles or use the no boil noodles), cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil, then use the heated dry and sanitize cycle on your dishwasher to cook the lasagna.

When I was 17 I was pumped to move out of home, I couldn’t wait to get out. I was onto the next big thing and I was going to have a great career and a killer house and a beautiful wife and life. Inevitably 5 years later I moved back home in a stream of tears and shame.
