The emerald-coloured River Oglio runs right past our velvet weaver partner in the ancient borgo of Pontoglio, Lombardy. In centuries past this river powered weaving operations and washed fabrics; today the Pontoglio 1883 factory workers fish in the Oglio after work and on weekends.

Bale Custom tailoring appointments are taken in store, then the garments are create in Otaru, Hokkaido, by a team of tailors under the watchful eye of Kaneko-san (last image). “We aim to deliver products with the warmth of the craftsperson’s hand, combining new technology with the best of old ones,” says Kaneko.
