In today's fast-paced world, the ability for users to connect securely, when and where it suits them, is not just an advantage; it's a necessity. We're stepping into an era where the boundaries between physical and digital spaces are blurring, demanding a hybrid model that caters to every aspect of our lives - work, learning, and personal growth.

This vision is about creating a seamless, integrated experience that prioritises security at every touchpoint. It's about ensuring that no matter where you are or what device you're using, your connection is safe, reliable, and tailored to your needs.

Why is this important? Because in a world that's increasingly interconnected, our freedom to connect shouldn't be limited by concerns over security or accessibility. We're championing a future where everyone can enjoy the full potential of digital connectivity, without compromise.

Did you know that the Melbourne metropolitan bus network currently carries the lowest number of passengers of all forms of public transport, despite buses offering over 5 times more scheduled service kilometres than the city’s tram or train networks.*

So, what’s stopping Melburnians from hopping on and off our city’s buses? According to the Infrastructure Victoria: Fast, Frequent, Fair Report, one answer could lie in a lack of real-time information and access to quality stop infrastructure.
Put simply..real-time information placed in the hands of the traveler = more frequent usage of bus services.

NEC has been working with a number of innovative transport operators across government and enterprise to offer data solutions that improve independent travel options for citizens. We often hear comments from those responsible for their company's cloud strategy such as, "I'm not confident that all my workloads and applications are monitored.” This concern highlights a significant issue in today's digital business environment - the lack of complete visibility over workloads and applications.

A well-monitored cloud environment is the cornerstone of a successful, future-proof organisation. Adopting modern cloud operations is akin to securing a safety net for your digital framework.

Victor Dominello's experience highlights the need for accurate information to be available to people as they travel, including how much they are paying for trips, are they travelling with a valid ticket and do they have sufficient funds? A well designed ticketing system can make all this available regardless of the fare media.

Have just been issued with a transport warning 🤦🏻‍♂️

There were significant train delays this morning due to mechanical problems. I was catching train to airport.

After I tapped on - I thought it might be faster getting a taxi so I wouldn’t miss my flight. So I tapped off. There were also understandable knock-on delays in getting a taxi. So I rushed back to catch the train. I thought I tapped back on but I wasn’t sure if it registered as I was in a rush - so I tapped again.

Whilst on train an inspector was nearby. I approached the inspector - explained the above - he then checked my account and said that I essentially cancelled my ticket.

He issued me with a warning.

The inspector was incredibly nice and courteous and was doing his job 🙏

🔴 HOWEVER - there are many times when people forget to tap off - or in my case - in multiple journeys - had inadvertently double tapped.

There is no clear way of seeing this data. But wait on … the inspectors can see my data in real time - then why can’t I ?

Please transport 🙏 - allow us passengers access to our own real time data - most of us want to do the right thing - and some of us would appreciate a reminder as to whether we have tapped off - so we are not surcharged.

ps - thanks to the passenger behind me who offered to take the photo 🙏

Rising interest rates, the housing crisis and food insecurity are some of the most serious issues facing Australians.

Foodbank Australia is Australia’s largest food relief organisation. It operates on a scale that makes it crucial to the work of the frontline charities who are feeding vulnerable Australians. Foodbank provides more than 70% of the food rescued for food relief organisations nation-wide.

Along with six colleagues, we fulfilled 25 orders for various community agencies which in total would provide 26,037 meals.

There’s increased demand on frontline charities and Foodbank warmly welcomes volunteers. So if you have the opportunity to volunteer, don’t hesitate to pitch in.
