Eltham CFA
100% Volunteer, Eltham Fire Brigade is Protecting Lives and Property 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Will we fit?
An issue CFA brigades face is accessing properties.
Some gates are too small to fit through or there isnโt enough room for trucks to turn around.
Overhanging trees and branches can also be a problem.
Your local brigade needs to know that they can gain access, if they need to.

With the Fire Danger Period fast approaching, do you understand the difference between a Fire Danger Period and a Total Fire Ban?
If you live or work in a suburb close to grassland, parks or paddocks you could be at risk of fire this summer.

Itโs Eltham CFAโs Open Day and we are open!
Captain Koala, free sausage sizzle, and raffle prizes!
Come down to 909 Main Road Eltham until 3pm today.
Over the past year, the Eltham CFA Brigade has been busy fundraising, and we are truly grateful for the generous donations from the Eltham community that have enabled our volunteer fire brigade to acquire a new Breathing Apparatus Support vehicle (BAS). This vital addition will enhance our ability to respond to major building fires in our area and beyond.
Our new BAS had its first call out on the weekend, and your support not only provides essential equipment for our firefighters but also strengthens our commitment to keeping our community safe. We are excited about the positive impact this vehicle will have in emergency response.
Thank you once again for your incredible generosity. Together, we are making a difference!
Come and check it out at our Open Day this Sunday 13th October, at 909 Main Road Eltham.

Tonight, the Brigade will train on a 3.4C Tanker.
Throughout the fleet, CFA has many different tankers. To assist with identifying the type of appliance, they are categorized as Light, Medium, Heavy, or by numbers.
A 3.4C is a 3000L, 4WD, Crew Cab tanker, whereas Eltham Tanker 2 is a 2.4D, with a 2000L capacity, 4WD, and a Diesel Pump (yes, we used to have petrol pumps when the Captain first joined!).
Thanks to Diamond Creek Fire Brigade for lending us their tanker.

We apologise for this inconvenience and request your support in resending your order to this email. Fire Fighter Nick will make contact with everyone ordering to confirm their orders and pickup date.

For every 5 pack of pies sold at $25, they will donate $5 to the Eltham CFA. Orders can be made to [email protected] by Friday 2 August and will be available for collection from Ferguson Plarre Eltham within 7 days. Firefighter Nick will contact everyone ordering to confirm their orders and the pick up date.

Today is Smoke Alarm Action Day and Australian firefighters are encouraging households to make sure their smoke alarms are working and ready for fire.
It's also the first day of winter and nowโs the perfect time to test your smoke alarms to make sure everyone in your household is safe and secure. All it takes is a few seconds.
Press the test button on the smoke alarm and wait for the alarm to sound. Replace batteries or consider upgrading to a type that lasts for ten years.
All Australian fire services recommend placing smoke alarms in all living areas and bedrooms to ensure that you and your family are alerted as soon as there is a fire, giving you all vital time to escape.
Victorian firefighters are called to about 100 heater-related fires each year. Reduce the risk of fire by maintaining your heating systems and appliances and keeping them in good working order.
Keep clothes and other items at least one metre away from all heating devices.
Supervise children near all types of heating.
Never leave portable heaters and fireplaces unattended; turn off heating devices before leaving home or going to sleep.
Stay safe this winter. Take a few minutes today to test your smoke alarms. It could save your life.

Vale Michael (Mick) Dunn
Mick was a selfless and dedicated volunteer who was a valued and respected member of the Eltham Fire Brigade. His wisdom and knowledge of people and Community were outstanding and was one of the first to volunteer his services to assist his colleagues, his community, and many other communities as well.
Mick's final project with the brigade was to design a stand and cover for our 1933 heritage-listed bell. Mick designed a stand that encompassed the original theme of when the bell was first erected.
The bell with Mickโs stand is now proudly mounted outside our station at 909 Main Road, Eltham.
Mickโs leadership, enthusiasm and gentle nature were immensely valued and welcomed by all at the Brigade. His bell stand will live on alongside the many fond memories we have of Mick.
The Fire Danger Period will be lifted in the Shire of Nillumbik at 1.00 AM Monday the 15th of April.
Daylight savings is over. Don't forget to Change Your Clock and check Your Smoke Alarm.
