🚒🚨 Can We Fit Down Your Street? 🚨🚒

Our new fire truck is 3 meters wide, and navigating through some of our local streets can be a real challenge, especially in newer estates with narrower roads. When seconds count in an emergency, every obstacle can make a difference.

Here's how you can help:

🚗 Where You Park: Ensure your vehicle is not obstructing the roadway. Try to avoid side by side parking.
🔥 Keep Fire Hydrants Clear: Make sure fire hydrants are visible and accessible at all times.
🏠 Consider Driveway Parking: Use your driveway if you have one available.
🛣️ Be Aware of Street Widths: Keep in mind our trucks need enough space to turn around safely.

Your cooperation can make a significant difference in our ability to respond quickly, efficiently and safely. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe!

🚨 FIRE CALL | 10 JULY 2024 | STRUCTURE FIRE (2ND ALARM)

At 8:09 PM, Hoppers Crossing CFA was paged to respond to support Fire Rescue Victoria to a 2nd Alarm Structure Fire on Broadwalk Blvd in Point Cook.

By the time our crews arrived, the initial firefighters from FRV and Point Cook Fire Brigade (CFA) had successfully suppressed the fire located between two portable buildings, preventing it from spreading to further with slight damage to the buildings. Hoppers Crossing assisted with a RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) on stand-by and BA (Breathing Apparatus) Control.

Great teamwork by the initial crews for their quick action in containing the fire.

The incident is being treated as suspicious with Victoria Police investigating.

Anyone who may have information that can assist is advised to Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000 or visit https://www.crimestoppersvic.com.au/ to make an anonymous report.

🚨 FIRE CALL | 10 JULY 2024 | FACTORY FIRE (7TH ALARM)

Yesterday, at 12:08 PM, Hoppers Crossing CFA was paged to respond to a 7th Alarm response to a Factory Fire on Swann Drive in Derrimut.

Hoppers Crossing Pumper Tanker and BA Support responded to support Fire Rescue Victoria to a significant factory fire in Derrimut, as part of a 7th alarm response. Our crews, along with teams from Caroline Springs Fire Brigade (CFA), Werribee Fire Brigade - CFA and Truganina Fire Brigade, arrived on scene to provide person power and standby support to FRV firefighters.

CFA (Country Fire Authority) crews assisted in the firefighting efforts providing person power, including breathing apparatus support and standing by with structure firefighters. The fire, involving hazardous materials and unknown toxins, required a coordinated multi-agency response from all agencies including Victoria Police, Victoria State Emergency Service, Ambulance Victoria, Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Service, Environment Protection Authority Victoria to bring it under control.

By 3:32 PM, the fire was deemed under control, and our CFA crews were released from the scene. We are proud to see the exceptional teamwork displayed by all agencies involved, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

As of 9:35 AM today, in excess of 3 million litres of water and 40,000 litres of foam has been used to suppress this fire.

🚨 FIRE CALL | 23 JUNE 2024 | STRUCTURE FIRE

Around 10:30 AM on Sunday, the Hoppers Crossing Fire Brigade was in the midst of transitioning to our new Pumper Tanker when we received a fire call to support Fire Rescue Victoria to reports of a house fire in Goates Ct, Hoppers Crossing.

Upon arriving, our Captain observed smoke in the distance and relayed this information to oncoming appliances. Initial assessment of the situation deemed an upgraded response to a 2nd Alarm Structure Fire. Crews from Hoppers Crossing equipped with Breathing Apparatus (BA), swiftly conducted a primary internal search of the premises.

Second crews in our FCV with BA crew, launched a direct attack on the external fire, which was located under a pergola. Their quick and coordinated efforts managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading beyond the pergola, laundry, and dining room areas.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the fire had been caused by hot ash from a fireplace that had not been properly extinguished and disposed of.

🎯 Key Message: This highlights the importance of safely disposing of hot items. Always ensure they are fully extinguished and placed in a non-flammable container to prevent accidental fires.

Today Hoppers Crossing CFA Point Cook Fire Brigade (CFA) Fire Rescue Victoria attended the Point Cook RAAF Base to do a water gun salute for the return of Michael Smith and his sea plane Southern Sun who has returned from circumnavigating Australia.

Mr Smith will follow the same route as former acting Chief of the Air Staff, Wing Commander SJ (‘Jimmy’) Goble, and pilot, Flying Officer Ivor McIntyre, spending 44 days solo, following Australia's coastline in an anti-clockwise direction.

Although Mr Smith’s seaplane “Southern Sun” could complete the task in a third of the time, the adventurer wants to remain faithful to the original journey, which delivered the first aerial survey of Australia’s coastline.

Due the extreme fire danger and Total Fire Ban, Hoppers Crossing volunteers again gave up their time to crew the station and vehicles ready to respond.

Just before 1pm, Hoppers Crossing Pumper Tanker was responded to assist Wyndham Vale with a grass fire.

Crews from Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale, Little River, Werribee, and Truganina arrived quickly to contain and extinguish a grass fire that had spread to an abandoned building.

At 3:40pm, crews from Hoppers Crossing responded the Mount Cottrell Field Operations Vehicle (FOV) to Ballarat to assist with operations at the Beaufort fire.

As of 7pm tonight, crews at the fire station were stood down for the day and the brigade is back to standard capacity.

Another Team effort to keep the local community safe.

Late last year, one of our very own female fire fighters made the news!!

Photos from Hoppers Crossing CFA's post 15/12/2023

Santa Clause is coming to town!

And this year, he's trading in his sleigh for a fire truck!

Santa and his helpers from the Hoppers Crossing Fire Brigade will be driving the streets of Hoppers Crossing on Christmas Eve 24th December from 12 noon until 4pm for our annual Lolly Drop.

You’ll be able to use the Santa Tracker App & Link to see where Santa is in your area. Posts with this information will be made over the coming days.

👂 Listen for the sirens & head to your street corner if you're in a court or tiny street.

⚠️ Santa will not go into courts or small streets. Please head to a main street corner and monitor the Santa Tracker.

🛰️ Monitor your area for Santa - we're tracking the trucks and may not make every street.

🚨 The fire brigade may still need to respond to emergencies, so Santa may unfortunately have to head back to the North Pole early.

⌛ Due to the large area and time constraints we may not be able to get to every street, monitor your Santa Tracker and be vigilant!

😷 Be courteous to other families and maintain a physical distance at all times. Consider wearing face masks in case a distance of 1.5m cannot be maintained.

👨‍🚒 Please respect the crews as they are volunteers within our community and giving up their time.

Make sure to mark your calendars and don't miss out on this special occasion. Merry Christmas everyone!
