๐ฉโ๐ญ๐ Something a bit different at the bench today. This 9ct gold ring needs resizing 5 sizes up amd due to the voluminous top part it cant be shaped up to follow the larger curve hence the slightly oval shape in the end. Nevertheless, it could be worn comfortably now since our finger isnt completely round anyways ๐ that short clip of the heating up of the ring is to anneal it to make it less springy and the boracid acid+methylated spirit combination protects the diamonds from potential heat damage, the green flame is of the methylated spirit burning off๐ฅ

Soooooo this is 1...and 9 more to go. This lot is a sentimental job where I am supplied with alluvial gold and Australian zircon that they have cut themselves. It has proven to be a very tricky job with iron content in the gold and alloying it down to 9ct yellow gold (so this thing is ultra springy and porous at parts). I suppose using this gold in a single band is fine, but handfabricating with sequential soldering is a different issue. Nevertheless, knowing how important these stones are to him and his family make me enjoy the process and just really want to do my absolute best โค

PS: if the join looks messy after the flame work is because I fused instead of soldered the ends, it creates a stronger, almost unnoticable join โค

Here are the details of the ring in previous reel: 1.00ct Australian yellow green parti sapphire, unheated with slight inclusion, set in 9ct recycled rose gold setting seated on 18ct recycled white gold band. The ring might appear to have a hint of blue in the video but it is almost straight forest green with yellow parts in real life. This ring is โซ๏ธ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐โซ๏ธDM for more details ๐
