This post is just to educate our community about corkage fees. Why does restaurant charge corkage fees when someone bring their own wine or whisky? For restaurant to cover the cost of providing glassware and ice and etc etc, that is the cost. Most of the restaurant owners will agree with me on this, our so-called rich Indian community is the one creating dramas or scene for not paying corkage fees in the bill or even threaten us if you charge corkage we won't be coming back to the restaurant.
A restaurant does not make profit through food. We can make profit only through the sale of drinks either it's soft drinks, beers, wine, whiskey . So when a restaurant is allowing you to bring your own with small corkage fees, one should appreciate it, as they are not making any profit through the sale of the drinks instead rather they are losing money.
The Hospitality industry is going through the toughest time they have seen in a century so instead of making it worse for restaurants try to help them wherever possible🙏🙏
