This season, we're excited to have Huke from Ethiopia on our filter coffee menu. Grown by 500 small-scale farmers and processed at the Huke washing station (owned by Faysel Yonis of Testi Coffee, pictured), this coffee has notes of sweet orange and dried apricot with a bergamot finish.⁠

"Huke is a fantastic example of a coffee from the famous Yirgacheffe region," says Market Lane Co-founder, Jason. "It's sweet, floral and beautifully distinct. It really sings in the cup."⁠

Carmelita is a beautiful filter coffee produced in Bolivia by the talented and dedicated Carmela Aduviri (pictured). In the cup, this coffee has notes of guava and peach with a tropical fruit acidity. We’ve been walking with Children’s Ground since 2020, and we feel inspired by and deeply connected to their vision of building a brighter future for the next generation of First Nations Peoples. Our connection with Children's Ground began simply, with a donation, but in the years since, it has evolved into a meaningful and important relationship. This is thanks to the wonderful Children’s Ground team, who have been profoundly generous in giving us their time, and in sharing their wisdom, perspective and cultural and historical knowledge with our team. ⁠

Nicole Lawrence is an extremely talented furniture maker, metal fabricator and lighting designer, who produces beautiful collections of furniture and lights through her business, Nicole Lawrence Studio. At Market Lane, we’ve been lucky to collaborate with on several bespoke industrial pieces, including shelves, product stands, and our amazing shop recycling stations!⁠

This week, we’re celebrating the release of Gara Agena from Sidama, Ethiopia. This spectacular microlot won an impressive 2nd place in the 2024 Taste of Harvest – an annual competition to seek out the most exquisite coffees in Africa. It only takes one sip of Gara Agena to understand why the international panel of judges ranked it so highly – in the cup, this coffee is intensely sweet, vibrant, lively and complex. We’re so thrilled to have this distinctive Ethiopian coffee on offer, and we hope you enjoy!⁠

La Llama is an abundantly floral, exceptionally sweet and clean Gesha-variety microlot produced by our long-time supply partners, the Rodríguez family. In the cup, La Llama has notes of peach and rose with a jasmine finish. “Sometimes coffees are floral but they’re very rarely this floral,” says Market Lane co-owner, Jason. We’re thrilled to have this sweet, elegant and distinctive coffee on offer.⁠

We are beyond excited to be reopening the doors to our Prahran Market shop today, and welcoming our amazing customers and community into our lovely renovated space! ⁠

This shop was our first ever Market Lane location – the place where our story began 15 years ago – and it has been lovingly updated with the help of David Goss and his team at . In a nod to our roots, we’ve brought back some of the special elements that existed in this space when we opened – including roasting coffee on-site on our 5kg Probat roaster and offering weekly coffee cuppings. We’ve also reimagined our menu, with delicious food and drinks inspired by some of our favourite local suppliers. ⁠

We’re thrilled to be re-opening our doors, and to once again be a destination for coffee lovers at . This shop is open 7 days a week and has lots of seating and room for market trolleys and prams.
