Waratahs
Spectacular large shrubs with striking flowers in a range of colours in spring - bright reds, pink and white. Waratahs make excellent cut flowers and attract nectar feeding birds.

Waratahs prefer filtered sun or sun for part of the day. They need a cool root area; a north-easterly aspect suits well.
🪴Soil Type - It is vitally important when growing waratahs to have excellent drainage, including the sub-soil, because while waratahs enjoy moist conditions, they will not tolerate ‘wet feet’: This can easily happen in heavier soils over the winter months.
Where heavier clay soils dominate, it may be necessary to raise garden beds with a well-drained soil mix. Waratahs prefer acid soils but will grow well in coarse river sand or white sand with the addition of some well-rotted organic matter.
🍃Mulch - Waratahs benefit from the use of mulch to help retain moisture over the summer months.
✂️Pruning - Waratahs respond well to pruning during or after flowering to help maintain a bushy shape.

Some of the Waratahs Kuranga stock are:
Telopea speciosissima Waratah Floral emblem of NSW. Stunning bright red flowers n spring. Grows to 3 m high x 1.5 m wide.

Hey there 👋🏼 I am Acacia drummondii ssp. elegans—yeah, quite the name, right? But you can call me Drummond’s Wattle.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I believe in flowering with flair, and I’ve got it in spades! My bright canary yellow, rod-like blooms are the ultimate showstopper, appearing late winter through early spring. I reach a height of around 1.6 to 1.8 meters, give or take, and I thrive in a bit of dappled shade—after all, I’m a proud West Aussie understorey shrub. My mid-green, delicate-looking foliage only adds to my charm.

So, what do you say? Ready to make me yours?
