Not sure about you, but our clear outs are often ‘when we find the time and have the energy' or when our cupboards are at complete bursting point 🙊 ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​But when we do a big clean out, one of the keys is to move everything on asap, otherwise it gets jammed back into cupboards 😜
Here’s how we do it:
🩳 Get prepared! Bags (we reuse the supermarket shopping bags as they’re strong), labels, permanent marker and line up some good tunes or a podcast
🩳 Decide your categories and pre label some bags; we suggest ‘Jumping Jack’ but we’ll also include the names of kids we pass clothes on to, and a recycle bag for those well loved items
🩳 Leave yourself some time to do it – even if you’re going to do it across a few sessions, it takes longer than you think!
🩳 Set yourself up for future success – pop a ‘too small’ box in the cupboard to make clean outs more streamlined next time.
The best part? Enjoying that space you win back! Even if it fills faster than you’d like 😂

Bad news for that Friday night take out 😲🍕 ​​​​​​​​​Pizza boxes generally can’t be recycled in your council recycling -- especially with grease or food residue.​​​​​​​​​
BUT you can tear off the clean parts and recycle those! Contaminated pizza boxes can also be processed in a home composting system – tearing it up will help it break down faster! 💚🌏♻️

Unlike paper and lots of other items that can only be recycled a certain number of times, aluminium can recycled endlessly without compromising any of its unique properties or quality. Recycling a can made of aluminium produces energy enough to run a television for three hours - amazing! ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​It's also a handy tip for all those Easter egg wrappers that you can scrunch into a ball and add to your recycling. 🐰🐣

Did you know there is a Penguin Island in Western Australia?! We didn’t but it just made our list of places to go. The small island of about 12 hectares houses the world’s largest population of little penguins (AKA fairy penguins), and is home to roughly 1200 them. While it is first and foremost a breeding conservation ground, it is also a fairly popular tourist destination – see you there!
