New artist announcement!
Clinton Green (Australia) is joining NCTMMRN family!

We are happy to announce and welcome Clinton Green, joining our NCTMMRN family with the new album coming later this year!

Clinton Green is an Australian experimental artist and performer. He works with Walkmans, prepared/hacked turntables and found objects as instruments.

Clinton Green makes something akin to music. He has been active in Australian experimental music since the 1990s as a recording and performing artist, curator, facilitator, writer and researcher.

“His reason…is to find out why he’s such a damn fool”
– Harry Smith (on himself).

“To describe or label Clinton Green and his work is difficult as he is akin to a renaissance-man or polymath. Inventor, environmental sound artist, musician, spoken word artist and physical/visual theatre maker, are all fields of endeavour he investigates…He is continually engaged in a dialectic conversation between himself and the world that surrounds him, his art is a product of that conversation.”
– Paul W. Blackman, “An Artist Walks Through A Doorway: an approach to liminal theatre” (May 2018).

The new release:
Clinton Green – Lucid Lucid Lucid Lucid Lucid Lucid (NCT026)
is out September 6th!

STAY TUNED!

And There Thy Flight Dissolved From View, by Luke Martin | James M. Creed 27/09/2023

NCT025: Luke Martin & James M. Creed “And There Thy Flight Dissolved From View” is OUT NOW!

Dear friends,
NCTMMRN is very happy to announce the new release!

HANDMADE LIMITED EDITION CDR is available from 06 OCTOBER 2023, pre-orders are open now!

From the artists:
"And There Thy Flight Dissolved From View is two duos, both written to play together while Luke visited James in London in the fall of 2022.

An extremely bright, effulgent light engulfed me takes its title from a phrase in Alice Coltrane’s writings (Divine Revelations, 1995), in which she discusses the subject’s uncertain but positive relation to the absolute. the piece considers this relation as an instance of ‘twoness’: the duo, a melodic connection, the dialectic of in/finitude. as a pair we play, again and again, and always strictly separated, one or two tones from a cyclic harmonic sequence – tracing a melody unknown to us and which teeters between presence and absence. an apprehension of twoness, then, may arise not from underlying harmony, nor the notes we choose, but rather from an intersection of separation, chance, and affirmation. from this self-effacing ‘place’ there is the possibility of constructing, without reason, something without end: a friendship, a melody.

Two Guitars uses live looping to slowly create two masses of sound which both gradually expand and develop their own contours. These sounds continually change and negotiate how they share the same space, before fading to reveal a simple, delicate melody that had already been occurring for some time.

The pieces were first played at The Hill Station in South-East London, and recorded the next morning in James’s room overlooking the Catford Road with the windows open."

Enjoy!

16/05/2023

We are happy to announce that the new project mycenae bottom (Israel/Russia) is joining our NCTMMRN family!

mycenae bottom is a collaboration of Feliks Mirensky (Brom, Drozhzhi, Catatonic Leisure) and Konstantin Samolovov (Dogs Bite Back, Wozzeck, Mars-96).

Feliks and Konstantin have performed as a duo only a few times, but their collaboration began many years ago. In the spring of 2016, the Spina!rec label in St. Petersburg (Russia), where Konstantin was one of the curators, organized an experimental music festival. The festival's lineup, in the label's typical fashion, was formed by unexpected, fresh, and meticulously crafted collaborations in terms of sound and stage concepts. This led to a joint performance by Konstantin and the Moscow trio Lichna Nega (Andrey Guryanov, Anastasia Kuzmina, Feliks Mirensky), which marked the beginning of a friendship and ongoing collaboration between the musicians.

In 2017, Feliks and Konstantin played as a duo for the first time and recorded the track "Garain" – a garage improvisation in every sense. Feliks dissected the guitar while Konstantin played an old drum kit, all taking place in an actual garage amidst a summer Moscow downpour. In the following years, the duo played together in various formations, such as a quartet with Ilia Belorukov and Andrey Guryanov in a St. Petersburg studio, and as a trio with Alexey Sysoev in a studio session at the Moscow Dom; they also performed as part of the Dogs Bite Back trio, where Feliks supported the group during a concert at Ionoteka.

Finally, in 2021, the musicians deliberately met again, first in a Moscow studio and then in St. Petersburg.

The material selected from these two recordings became the album "enormous height above us" accompanied by the following text by Ilia Belorukov:
"[This] duo is all about electroacoustic improvisation, or more precisely, free improvisation with percussion and electronics, which implies an active, reactive music – and this is evident to the fullest extent."

The album "enormous height above us" will be released earlier next month on NCTMMRN (Australia). Stay tuned!

The Hand, The Grid, And The Red Breeze, by Adam Zuckerman 27/10/2022

The new release Adam Zuckerman – The Hand, The Grid, And The Red Breeze | 2022 (NCT021) is out now!
https://nctmmrn.bandcamp.com/album/the-hand-the-grid-and-the-red-breeze

Adam Zuckerman is a musician based in Los Angeles, CA.

Adam works with acoustic, electronic, and environmental materials in the creation of scores, recordings, performances, and installations. At the core of his work is an understanding of music as having a uniquely immediate connection with the pure sensation of sound. Music does not represent anything but exists for itself as an acoustic object which coalesces sound, explores its possibilities, and presents it for aesthetic apprehension. All of the components which make up a piece – its materials, textures, structures, temporal dimensions, conceptual frameworks, concrete performance situations – these serve to allow sound to unfold its rich materiality as a concretization and reiteration of the creative impulses of the world. In this way, music reveals and explores the inherent beauty of sound in a world always full of vibration. Adam’s music aspires to offer an intuition into this vast and folded sonic world as it holds open an immersive space for listening, reflection, and imagination in a celebration and affirmation of existence.

Adam frequently collaborates with other musicians and artists, and he has had work performed and presented by ensembles, labels, and festivals internationally. He holds a B.M. in Music Composition and a B.A. in Ancient Greek from the Bard College and Conservatory of Music as well as an M.F.A. in Experimental Sound Practice from the California Institute of the Arts. Adam teaches composition, theory, piano, guitar, and violin to elementary, middle, and high school students. He also regularly organizes shows and concerts around Los Angeles.

For his release with NCTMMRN, entitled The Hand, The Grid, And The Red Breeze, Adam amplifies the internal dynamics and slow transformations of a single, typically very quiet sound.

I am not Here, by Kory Reeder 28/02/2022

It doesn't feel right to release music today, not in a world like this, but we can't do otherwise. We believe it is important to release and spread music, even now. We don't know what is next. Maybe it is the last release from nctmmrn, time will tell. This album is a very international collaboration and that's making it even more important for us. It is showing that music has no borders, no nationalities, and most importantly no hate.
