2023-24 Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program Update June 2024
Closed to further registrations of interest.
"The 2023-24 Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is now closed to new Registrations of Interest (ROI).
If you have been invited to submit an application for nomination but you have not yet lodged, you can continue to do so before the invitation expiry date.
No further invitations to apply for nomination will be issued this program year.
Migration Tasmania will continue to assess applications for nomination that have been lodged but not yet decided, however only few nomination places remain and so not all applicants will be nominated this program year.
Once all nomination places are used, any applications that are approved will be nominated after Tasmania receives its nomination allocation for the 2024-25 program year.
ROIs that have been allocated a green or gold pass will continue to be held in the Application Gateway and considered for an invitation to apply for nomination when the 2024-25 program opens.
Information on the 2024-25 program will be published on this website and in our newsletter when it becomes available"

Federal Budget Update for Migration
✅The permanent migration program will be capped at 185,000 places in 2024-25
✅132,200 places allocated to the skill stream to “help address Australia’s long-term skill needs”
✅A new National Innovation visa will be established to replace the current Global Talent visa from later this year, aimed at targeting “exceptionally talented migrants who would drive growth in sectors of national importance
✅The government will also reduce the work experience requirement for the temporary skill shortage visa, down from two years to one, for all applications from the end of this year

👉 Maximum eligible age to reduce to 35 years and under except for Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders for both Graduate and PSW stream
👉 Stay Period on PSW stream to be only 2 years for Bachelor and Masters graduates and up to 3 years for Masters (research) and PHD
👉 Stay Period on PSW stream for Indian nationals with Bachelor (first class honours in STEM including ICT) and Masters to be 3 years and PHD 4 years
👉 Select Degree 2 year extension will cease
