We kicked off the year with two major wins in the world’s largest network of design awards, Better Future. Having won the regional Australia category at the start of last year, our entries for Belong 'Second Life Phones' and The Ian Potter Foundation were elevated to the international stage, alongside other projects that address circular economy, economic growth, ecological sustainability and equity & inclusion.

AI dominated search in 2023.
While not the most searched keyword, "chatgpt" — and similar phrases — had the largest increase in search frequency in the past year, up 𝟯𝟱𝟬𝟬% 🤯.
The trend is clear. AI is integrating into our lives, much like the humble Google search did back in the late 90s.
You can use AI to:
✅ Create art
✅ Produce audio & video
✅ Find the through line in a massive data set
✅ Experiment with unconventional ideas
✅ Manage customer service
✅ Develop and test a business idea

In this build for Australia Post Connect, our team—along with broadband partner BTB Australia—created a site for the seamless buying, selling, and managing of broadband services.
In the Shopify backend is a custom app linking directly to NBN endpoints. On the frontend, the user gets an easy-to-navigate ecommerce experience that displays live, localised broadband pricing and usage data.

We've been getting our toes wet in the world of AI this year. 🤖
These intelligent tools have progressed by leaps and bounds since 2022. But does AI do content better than humans? Swipe right to see what we think AI excels at, and areas that we wouldn't recommend using it.
In the 55 & Deloitte study, Milliseconds Make Millions, an analysis of mobile site data showed that only a tiny decrease in site load times produced major results for conversion. Specifically an 8.4% conversion increase for retail sites and 10.1% for travel sites.

No one customer journey is alike. How consumers get from brand awareness to purchase action is a convoluted process, which Google calls "The Messy Middle". How do you get people to pick your brand over the rest? Google suggests:

🚚 Use behavioural science in ads (authority, social proof, promotions, or low delivery friction).

Content marketing is a long game. If done right it could be one of the most effective tools in passively growing your business.
Not sure what keywords to target? Here's a quick cheat sheet. 👉
1. What's a search volume? How much traffic do the top-ranking pages get? Will that amount of traffic make an impact on your business?
2. Can you match the search intent? This could be a blog, a tool (e.g. loan payoff calculator), a video, or another form of media.
3. Will ranking for this keyword contribute to your bottom line? Could your product answer the search intent?
4. How authoritative are the competitors who rank for this keyword? The more popular a competitor is, the harder it will be for you to knock them out of the top spot.
If you pass all 4, go for it!
