The day has come.
The industry is not in a place to support a place like us, here in stkilda at the moment.
And so close to the end of our lease it made sense to end things now.

There will be a future where we do it all again but for now it's good bye...
Come celebrate one more time, let's drink the bar dry, let's eat all the food and together we can have one last laugh as we remember what this place has been to so so many beautiful people.

Bringing some Good Love to the south

After living and breathing good love for 6 months we have well and truly refined our craft. You spoke, and we listened, so it should come as no surprise that our winter menu ticks every box.

Our first winter.

A far cry from our open air outdoor summer celebrations in our huge people watching courtyard is the cozy venue itself. Warm colours & recycled timbers set the tone for the new hot drinks, seasonal fruits and veggies, 20 new house made infusions and barrel aged cocktails and a tonne of new & experimental foods. this season our focus is on direct from market organic produce.

The food.

The winter pizzas are hearty and scrumptious; check the mushroom carbonara with mixed black forest foraged mushroom pateé, creamy white béchamel cheese sauce, Smokey soy bacon with bush herbs and spices.

The famed kfc remains and as the menu implies the seasonal greens have changed, this one is sure to please;

Tropical north Australian early harvest young green jackfruit has a super permeable texture and marinates overnight in a 14-ingredient chicken flavored stock. Then crumbed in 11 herbs and spices and fried in a palm oil free fryer.�The kfc nuggets rest on a bed of seasonal greens pan tossed in a gluten free, oil free glaze atop a 5 grain mix of locally grown organic black rice and quinoa with chilli mayo.

Among the many new items to the winter offering is the Persian rice; our take on an ancient staple enjoyed by Persian royals and common folk alike;

House made kateh rice spiced with turmeric, currents and other advieh; piquant Persian native veggies and dried fruits. Served with seasonal pickled and fried veggies, pepitas, salsa and spiced mayo, over 30 individual ingredients shape this varied flavor profiling dish as the bowl rotates. Taste the rainbow!!

What we do
dining or drinking at good love is an experience. We prefer to take a casual approach to service without the fluff but still incorporating a fully informative experience – and its affordable too.

Its both simple and difficult to describe what we do. What comes to mind immediately is the intro to British cult tv comedy ‘the mighty boosh’ ; “come with us now on a journey through time and space”.

We want you to come on a journey with us. Its fun, its friendly, its cruelty free.

Good love has something for all tastes and a menu to cater to the diverse community of st kilda. The focus is on fresh affordable food available for takeaway or eat in, locally sourced beverages to order, excellent coffee from proud mary, outstanding customer service.

Who we are

Its owned by the people serving you, tired of the increasing corporate nature of our industry we decided to be the change we want to see.

The management team behind bimbo deluxe’s recent success bring you good love.

Owner/operators samantha schreuder and dylan thomas wanted to make sure they had found the perfect location to nurture their ideas.

“we definitely wanted to create a safe space, people can come into our venue and feel like they are coming into our home. A place where the atmosphere is warm and inviting; service is excellent, the food shines and the beverages are absolute quality.”

Leading the team are head chef Christina gore and Lauren howieson. Christina, formerlly of blendlove; the gold coasts leaders in plant based eating starts with a philosophy of ‘we can do it better’.

‘my goal is to make the earth last a bit longer, every step in my kitchen is designed around future sustainability’. A lasting contribution to the earth via food and ingredient selection adds to the thrill of the challenge.

Lauren howieson is responsible for crafting every drink on our cocktail menu. We only buy australian made by a family owned company –quite the feat given our small batch of beverage producers on this huge island. Challenging habit, a break from the norm and a step out of your comfort zone into a whole new world of liquid desires is why lauren does it better than the rest.

The venue itself

From the ruins of a salty rum bar comes the venue itself; a fabulously fit out space. Recycled wood and sanded back walls coupled with bespoke metal craftwork by techne architects give an edge while the abundance of rescued office plants and splashes of pink lift the space with pops of colour.

The 14-seat communal table opens the mind to a shared experience, stripped back walls reveal all past identities of the former abortion clinic, twice recycled leather upholstered seating and repurposed docklands pier wooden pillars keep the venue warm and inviting. New is a coat of pink paint, a triangular bench on the terrace, and an abundance of green life.
