Our son Wil turned 18 last week.

What a milestone, not only for Wil, but for Scott and I too.

18 years of parenting, taking care of him, teaching him about life, how to navigate challenges, how to be a good person, helping to mould him into a wholesome adult.

Although there is still much to learn on this journey that is life, it is strange to sit back and think that we’ve done all we can and now it’s his turn to take the reins and enjoy the ride.

All I will say to those not at this stage yet, enjoy the moment, it really does go by in a flash. When they are young, hours seem like days, days seem like weeks and weeks seem like months, and then suddenly, before you know it, it’s time to set them free in the big wide world.

I had a little visitor to the studio last week. Billie-Jean, the 16 week old British Bulldog. One guess where she gets her name from!

She is the sweetest little thing, happy to be tizzied up like a Christmas tree!

Sarah came to the studio recently to have a shoot to celebrate her birthday. I couldn’t resist asking her for a photo in one of my new jackets from which I just love! How gorgeous is Sarah!!

❤️ Sometimes we get to create the magic, sometimes we get to witness it ❤️ This time I was definitely the one to witness the magic! Nicole and Sharan had come to have some portraits taken in the studio and Sharan had asked me if we could pop outside for a moment as he had a surprise for Nicole. Well, what a surprise it was, with Sharan dropping to one knee and presenting Nicole with a beautiful Ceylon Sapphire engagement ring! I feel so privileged to have been there to witness such a special moment. Congratulations Nicole and Sharan, here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness ❤️

I had Martine Harte from in the studio with her beautiful family recently. We had lots of laughs capturing this family portrait, which was especially significant as Martine wanted to capture this time just before her eldest daughter turns 18. I know I always say it, but it really is amazing how quickly our kids grow up.

Starting the year off with a little bit of “just for fun” shooting. My mum gave me a bunch of beautiful hydrangeas from her garden, they are faded, and a little bit sunburnt, but I think this makes them even more perfect! I love the way the petals have turned from cobalt blue into this beautiful faded, old-worldly green with hints of purple and gold. Just like old yellowed paper. And this wine bottle has just been waiting for the right moment to shine!

As another year comes to a close, it’s time to post some of my favourite images from 2023. A few are double ups from previous posts, and there are a few that I haven’t yet shared.

2023 for me has been a year that ended on a high in the studio with a HUGE Christmas season with lots and lots of families!

I want to thank every single person that I have had the pleasure of photographing this year. It is truly a privilege to have so many people ask me to capture time for them.

I’m looking forward to seeing what 2024 has in store, and I’m excited about getting my creativity going again.

So with that said, here’s to a new year that brings happiness and health to everyone.

A classic, understated frame is always a favourite. Perfect for any decor, it doesn’t detract from the image inside.

I found some of my work from my old uni days recently. This is an image I created using the technique known as “painting with light”. The man in the photograph is my grandfather, Cyril Reed Gribble, who was born in 1895! He served in World War I and II. It’s amazing the family resemblance when you look back at old photographs. I can see my son Wil in my Pa.

After a beautiful sunny long weekend and the AFL Grand Final, the holidays are over and the kids are back to school; who is cheering with me?
