It’s with great sadness in my heart,
that I let you all know my father Ray McAlister suddenly passed away yesterday. He was 85.

Ray started work in the trade when he was 16 years old, as an apprentice setter then became a jeweller soon after, he retired at 82.

Dad was in my opinion one of the most talented jewellers in Australia, if not the world, he could make anything by hand and did, here are a few of them.

An Abalone, tennis racket, shark, magpie, lacrosse stick, helicopter. However, the pieces that I recall the best were 10 different types of planes he cleverly crafted as pendants, that his good friend Pilky took to America and sold them to plane owners at an aviation club.

I could go on so much more, but his greatest legacy was trying to make sure every single client was happy when they walked out the door, that was very important to him. I admired dad so much, he was a hard worker, a very good man and father, I’ll miss him dearly ❤️💍

He will be sorely missed by his whole family especially his wife June Mcalister.
