Grevillea 'White Wings'

A vigorous and frost hardy medium size shrub. The branches not only spread upwards they also spread across the ground making a full screen in your garden.

The leaves are deeply dissected with sharp point at the end of each lobe, the prickles not only make a good barrier but also create a refuge for birds.

The flowers are white and delicate, borne as feathery clusters along the branches.

With striking deep purple foliage and small pink-lilac flowers heralding the arrival of Spring, the Strobilanthes goldfussia is a must-have, adding colour contrast and interest to sunny, or shady spots in the garden.

Chaenomeles japonica, the Japanese Quince, is currently putting on a show on its 2nd year wood... This hardy member of the Rosaceae family gets up to 1-2 metres tall, and is a great attractor of bees while their long lasting blooms signal the arrival of Spring... Hardy and tolerant of a wide range of soil types, it's fruit can be used to make jellies and jams

Tash is a wealth of knowledge now working for the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, and can offer you any advice you'll need to get your garden looking amazing! (And she can smash out a good coffee too!) We can't wait to show her what we've been up to!

As winter slows down everything outside, things are ramping up in the greenhouse, as we propagate ready for the Spring/Summer season ahead! We have some amazing species coming through, and we'll be excited to bring them to you when they're ready!!!

Using beneficial bugs to control pests is incorporated into students studies here at in the hope that when they go out into their horticulture careers they take with them the knowledge and skills to refrain from using pesticides wherever possible... Today we released 150 Spotted Ladybirds from into the greenhouse to wipe out the pesky aphids that made their way in before the cold of winter set in...
30 of them will be contained in a netted plant to breed the next generation of Ladybirds to continue the important work of their parents, and keep the pest numbers down throughout winter...

If you're looking for a versatile plant that brings masses of color to a shady spot in your garden, you can't go past the Brazilian Plume, Justicia carnea. This South American beauty also does great in pots and containers, and can spring back bushy and dense after a hard prune after flowering...

On this National Volunteer Week, we'd like give a shout-out to our amazing volunteers! Without them we'd be swamped with weeds, behind on our propagation, and unable to get some big jobs done around the nursery, like revamping garden beds, and laying weedmat throughout our growing areas...
With each of them sacrificing their time to help us out, we're truly thankful for the amazing work they do, and its great to hear their stories about where they want to take their horticulture careers...

The Ficus genus is probably the easiest of the large indoor-tolerant plants to look after...
More commonly known as Rubber Trees, they come in an amazing array of colours, and will grow as big as you let them!
Hardy as hell, they can thrive on neglect, and tolerate drying out between watering, for those who don't have much of a green thumb!
They don't mind being pot bound, but you'll need a decent size to make sure it doesn't topple over!
Minimal maintenance is required, with a dusting of the leaves a few times a year being all it really asks for...
A nice bright spot inside, with some direct morning sun, will have your ficus looking amazing all year round...

Salvia oxyphora, also known as Fuzzy Bolivian Sage, has gorgeous bright pink fuzzy flowers that birds love. This is a beautiful Salvia from Bolivia that hasn't been in cultivation very long. It has showy, hot pink, fuzzy flowers with bright green calyces and bracts.
We only have a handful of these beauties, but we've planted one in our stock bed for future cultivation!!

We have a limited number of the gorgeous Brunonia australis in stock at the moment. This lovely perennial plant is known for its unique and eye-catching blue flowers, produced mostly in Spring and appearing at times through Autumn. The unique charm of the flowers makes it a great feature in a container or garden, with each stem bearing masses of tiny blue flowers in a pincushion shape above a cluster of soft foliage. Great for borders and rockeries, it will grow in a range of conditions. Grows in full sun to partial shade and in most soil types if provided with good drainage.

Hibiscus tileaceus, the Cottonwood Hibiscus, is a stunning native, with so many tones of deep green, to bright red heart shaped leaves... when the sun shines through this small tree, it really is something to behold! Attractive pastel yellow flowers are produced through spring and summer, and the birds also love this versatile tree... Relatively low maintenance, adapting to most soils and loving the sun, it does tend to prefer a bit of moisture...

Already starting to thicken out at the base, this beautiful Queensland native will have to be THE feature tree of anyone's collection!
Hardy and adaptable, it tolerates a variety of climates and soil types, and can be grown in a large pot in cooler regions such as Melbourne!
The unique swollen bottle shaped trunk develops in 5-7 years, this one is about 3 years old currently, but you can already start to see it swelling!

Tough and striking this clumping lily makes a fabulous feature plant, especially when flowering in Spring. Drought resistant and low maintenance, simply cut off old flower heads and dying foliage in Autumn. Prefers sun to part shade. Try it in a large pot!
