The Songwriting Prize – Semi Final

Australia’s Largest Live Music Songwriting Competition. The Songwriting Prize, now in its 9th year, is Australia’s largest live music songwriting competition, and the first with a mental health focus.

Brought to you by award-winning mental health music charity Listen Up Music.  After a record-breaking year - receiving 444 artist entries, it’s time to hear the cream of the crop from your region at this Semi Final, one of seven taking place across the country. 

The events are especially unique, with the coming together of a community to support artists who will perform their short-listed song on the theme of ‘Acceptance’.  You will hear the story behind each song, the songs performed live, and a judging panel will give feedback after each entrant’s song. 

At the culmination of the evening, the top 2 will progress to the Grand Final and be in with a shot of $50,000 worth of prizes.

An eclectic blend of indie and punk rock, Letters I Should’ve Burnt showcases LLL’s unique ability to shift from the raucous and dangerously catchy choruses of Doctor Doctor to the soft melancholy of Mind The Gap. Frontman duo Riley Richardson and Taliesin Lowe are sure to have you shedding tears and screaming cheers all night.

Letters I Should’ve Burnt is a reflection on the things we wish we hadn’t and hope we never say. It covers themes of unrequited love, growing apart from friends and moving forward in life despite it all.
