Our Hawthorn store was the first store Fella Hamilton opened in 1987 - 37 years ago!

It is still located at 101 Riversdale Road, near the corner of Glenferrie Road, in Hawthorn.

Can you tell us about your journey to becoming a store manager?
"I started working in fashion when at school, I had a fantastic part time job in women's wear, that gave me a taste in the fashion industry. Over the years I have been very fortunate to have worked for many of the best Australian brands.
My career has been vast in the fashion industry doing promotions but predominantly always in women's wear."

What inspired you to pursue a career in retail management?
"I have worked in women's fashion on and off for 30 years, I love the daily buzz of being on the floor with customers and staff. "

What's your favourite thing about working in our industry ?
"Surrounded by beautiful clothing and knowing that I am helping our customers regularly."

What do you think sets Fella Hamilton apart that attracted you to work for us?
"I love the heritage of the Fella Hamilton brand, the story of Fella starting her business in her forties. Locally made and Australian owned is something that appeals to me greatly."

Welcome to an extra special customer spotlight on Sharon Jameson from our Orange Store.

"Hi l'm Sharon and l am a member of the Orange Family History Society.

I was helping the researcher at the Orange library to do WW1 Soldiers for the 100th anniversary. We found a man, William, in the Orange newspaper and there was no record of him anywhere else. I wrote to the MOD Detectives in London and asked how l could get a headstone for him. They referred me to the Australian Branch and we got William a War Grave headstone. That is how l got started in researching the unmarked graves in Orange.

It took 3 years to discover 96 Men and 1 Women where they were buried.
One special story was of William Crumpler who was at Bloomfield Hospital for about 40 years when l read his file that his sister was actually looking for him. She had written to the Australian Army trying to find him but they said they didn't know where he was. Her letter and his letter were next to each other in his file. I printed off the letter with a bunch of flowers and put it on his headstone. Unfortunately she passed a few years before him so l was unable to reunite them.

I wrote to a lady called Lyn saying l had found her Great Uncle William White and she was over the moon that he was found. Lyn came from Melbourne for the service in Orange. Another lady called Libby Raynolds was related to William Rangham as his Great Niece, she also traveled up for the service from Braidwood. "

Sharon has now received funding for all remaining headstones bringing her total to 107 males and 1 female.

We salute Sharon for her tireless work to give acknowledgement and dignity to our returned soldiers in their final resting place.
