Merry Christmas from Chick Or Treat Poultry to all of the lovely families who have given our sweet chickens wonderful homes β€οΈπ
We look forward to a well earned break before making 2024 a better year than ever for showing and breeding π
Chop & Shank are on the case to keep our paddock down this summer π
Six month old dorper wethers to help with the lawn mowing and for our Kelpie boy to herd casually in his older age ππ
When your husband starts getting his ducks in a row... π¦π¦
On top of having chickens, we also have a cat and two dogs we love (and embarrass)
I really do need to bring the chickens into the house for a Christmas photo next year... π
As of Friday we will be on two weeks holiday from work! During this time I will go through pens and look to release some more pullets β€οΈ
Spot the snake π not sure how you'd miss him π
Biggest one we've ever had here in the 14 years we've lived here, and the reason we have snake proof chicken pens
I measured him conservatively with a measuring tape at 10 foot 5 inches (then add the little wavy crinkles in his body for his balancing), so he's probably around 11 foot and thicker than my upper arm
Thanks for keeping the rats away buddy π₯°π₯°
Rocky! Our beautiful big boy is the friendliest rooster around - he follows you absolutely everywhere - even into the house π
Just two Black Mottle girls left π for their new π‘
One of gorgeous boys heading to a new home with a blue pullet this afternoon π©΅π
This boy is an absolute stunner, we just had no need for him this coming breeding season so he's finding his own digs π‘
We have plenty of up and coming boys - some will stay to show, then become future breeders, but some will be looking for their new home. There's a huge variety of colours and quality no matter what you're looking for π€π©Άπ©΅π§‘
We also still have three pullets left from our last release with eight having left over the last six days to loving new homes β€οΈ

Who or what could this be? π€
Why it's our very first Crested Cream Legbar x Barnevelder π£
After having nothing but aggressive Legbar roosters (after losing the one gorgeously friendly boy we had) I gave up on the Legbars as we only have a couple of girls. I like our girls having kind roosters who take care of them π
Enter Rocky, a very manly Blue Laced Barnevelder with a temperament to die for π₯°
The girls love him, and when they lay a pretty blue egg with him, I'm hopeful the babies may have some interesting coloured eggs down the track π₯π
Only three girls left π for their new π‘ from our latest release
Black girl - white leg band ***Pending Pick Up***
Black Mottle girl - white leg band
Black Mottle girl - black leg band
The two black Mottles should get more mottling as they age as these girls are young and ready for their new homes where they'll be perfect pets, breeders or layers! π₯π₯°

Third and final group of girls π for new π‘
11-13 weeks old Belgian D'uccle pullets/hens as follows: π€
Black Mottle girl - red **pending pick up**
Black Mottle girl - white
Black Mottle girl - black
These girls today will likely be the last release I have before Christmas/New Year (there may be one more but it will be small if so). If you've ever wanted some of our Belgian D'uccle girls, this is a good opportunity π

Second group sorted π for new π‘
Same story being 11-13 weeks old Belgian D'uccle pullets/hens. Two girls with two pics of each - message which one/s you are after π€
Black girl - white
Black girl - yellow **pending pick up**

First group gone through π for new π‘
Please message stating which ones you are after if interested. It will be first to commit/pickup. There are two pics of each girl in order as follows (the colour indicates the leg band allocated): π©Άπ©΅
Splash (apologies she is the muddiest of the group) **pending pick up**
Blue girl - white **pending pick up**
Blue girl - yellow **pending pick up**
These are guaranteed 11-13 week old Belgian D'uccle hens from pure colour compatible pens, from show quality/winning parent birds. While these are the girls that haven't made the cut for me, they are still amazing quality, fantastic pets and will be great layers π₯
They have all been lice & mite treated, wormed, and will have immune support oil popped on them before they leave for their new homes to help with travel/stress π₯°

The pullet pen to go through tomorrow π
I picked them all up one by one today, looking for any fault to help make the choices easier. Only one, maybe two. I don't even know where to start on sorting them all π«
But I have to be ruthless if I want my husband to keep loving me so I will look at potentially 25% of them to go ... I'm sure he'll be happy with that right π
I'll post them tomorrow individually and if you're interested it will be message on which ones you want and first in, first served. No holds. Located Morayfield π‘
Another grower pen to go through in the future
Keen for a couple of these millefleur pullets to grow out - there are two in particular with great base colour and showing promise at this age π
Nothing available from this pen at this time
These four girls got snapped up faster than we could post their individual mug shots β€οΈ
If you missed out, I'll be going through pens again this weekend and posting what Belgian D'uccle I can to trim down numbers before Christmas π
Getting these hens/pullets as I release them is the only way to get a hold of my birds, as I don't release eggs or day Olds π£
Next year will see Chocolate Bantam Orpington hens/pullets released again, as they're currently growing out π«

Here they are π well some of them - in this pen are five Black Mottle (varying amounts of mottling) and one straight Black Belgian D'uccle hens/pullets
I am only releasing the one straight Black and three Black Mottles at this stage as I will keep two Black Mottles for myself for breeding/showing. Four girls will be looking for new digs π‘
I will go through them during the week to confirm which two I keep, but it's going to be like splitting hairs as they are all absolute quality π₯
Located Morayfield - please message for more info
My phone/Facebook told me to create a post for Black (chicken) Friday, so here it is! π
Some people think Black Chickens are boring, and they're usually the last to find homes as pets (along with black cats and dogs in rescues), however, we love Black Chickens here! They are beautiful to show, have the same endearing personalities, and in the sun you can see the most beautiful sheen on their feathers πͺΆ
This year we had Black Mottle roo over Blue and Black girls split for Mottle, and a Blue Roo over Splash and Blue girls ππ€π©Ά
If you love Black Chickens as much as we do, you're in luck as 47468185857272 of them hatched this season π we will have Black and Black Mottle Belgian D'uccle pullets advertised in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out, as there are no wait-lists/holds sorry. Located Morayfield
Excuse me room full of people I'm virtually training, I'm just going to go into the next room and remove the massive Barnevelder rooster who is attacking himself in my bedroom mirror...
***pending pickup this weekend***
These two girls are back up and available
They are priced lower than my normal eight week olds due to their colour and one having a crooked beak (no affect on her at all)
They will be great pets and eggs layers as they're both very quiet and sweet girls with minimal handling currently
Located Morayfield - please message for more details
***All pending pickup this weekend***
The first four girls π for new π‘
There are three x eight week old Belgian D'uccle pullets that came from my millefleur pen (new rooster) and have turned out wrong colouring so these are pet quality girls, outside and off heat - they're friendly and quiet and ready to grow, be loved and be egg layers. They are not showing or breeding quality
The fourth girl is an 18 month old splash Belgian D'uccle hen. She is beautifully marked with a nice beard, and she's short and cobby, however her tail is quite flat, so again she won't make a breeder or show girl but is laying and will be a lovely pet
Located Morayfield. Please message for more details
Hello little Growers π»
Little Belgian D'uccle babies with their fresh Lucerne bedding β€οΈπ£
ROAR!
Now that we have your attention... We've had some full on weekends (one of which was spent doing a photoshoot with our beloved Chance), that we haven't had time to take pictures of chickens, or sort through who needs a new home!
I can confirm that hopefully this weekend I will pop a couple girls up, and will then try to work through to have a release of selected girls once a month
Drop a comment of your wishlist of our birds and keep an eye out on our page to see how we might be able to fill that wishlist in the coming months β€οΈπ£
Pickup times are restricted to weekends only and located Morayfield
I have 2 blue Belgian D'uccle and 3 black Belgian D'uccle boys to move on. One was shown successfully all season but I have no further use for him, and the rest are all great type for breeding or showing
Located Morayfield - please message for details
03/09/23 hatch - this had the first couple of Chocolate Bantam Orpingtons of the season. Even though they're bantam, you can see the massive size difference between them and the Belgian D'uccle babies
Also - the Orpingtons all go through the uglies whereas the Belgian D'uccle tend to stay cute for the entire time π
