Videos by Chick Or Treat Poultry in Morayfield. Breeding a variety of Belgian D'uccle, and Chocolate Bantam Orpington chickens
03/09/23 hatch - this had the first couple of Chocolate Bantam Orpingtons of the season. Even though they're bantam, you can see the massive size difference between them and the Belgian D'uccle babies
Also - the Orpingtons all go through the uglies whereas the Belgian D'uccle tend to stay cute for the entire time π

These Belgian D'uccle hatched 28/08/23 At this age you can see who's a he and who's a she as they develop their little combs There are four from my blue rooster X splash and blue hens and four from my black mottle rooster x blue and black hens Excited to see how these babies grow and who will stay for showing/breeding and who may be available likely early next year for new homes π #poultry #chickens #belgianduccle
This past week I've been hit hard by the flu, so my husband has helped out heavily with the chickens β€οΈ Today I did a clean up for the babies, and popped a few in together while I did so - plenty of splash/blue/black (possibly mottle) Belgians, Quail, Chocolate Bantam Orpingtons, Millefleur & Porcelain Belgians (from a lovely person who has one of my roosters) They make me happy following a bad week with my own sickness, as well as losing that one Blue Millefleur boy I'd so highly set all my hopes on. He passed out of nowhere after thriving for so long. So I'm hopeful one or both of these two little millefleur bubs is a boy π€π Nothing available at this time #poultry #chicks #chickens #quail #belgianduccle #orpington
Our two from the most recent Belgian D'uccle hatch - appear to be black Mottle with some white coming through on the wings, but we'll see how they feather up π This year I am focusing on small hatches to grow out six months and then determine if they look for new homes or stay to show/breed β€οΈ In previous years I've incubated and hatched big batches and it was too stressful and took the fun out of it but I'm enjoying showing and the little babies so far this year π₯°
I must be the only person in the world to be disappointed there appears to be only one rooster and two hens... On the plus side, his base colour is dark and he appears to be blue millefleur so I have high hopes for him β€οΈ
Unfortunately we lost one of the little millefleur babies (it was an assisted hatch so was an uphill battle from the start), but the other three are thriving It appears we've got a splash Millefleur and maybe one each of blue Millefleur and normal Millefleur, or two normal Millefleur (you have to wait for them to feather out a bit more to tell) I have everything crossed that there is a blue Millefleur and it's a boy, but I'll take anything in rooster at this stage β€οΈ We've also just had some splash, blue, black Belgian D'uccle babies hatch π£ which is exciting π
Baby quail π₯° a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be gifted eight fertilised eggs and have had five babies hatch so far - appears to be one-two more to go They are so little and cute! Hopeful for a few girls to lay breakfast for the dogs :D #quail #poultry
A very secret hatch... People had been asking if I had eggs or babies. And the truth is now no to eggs and these bubs aren't available. Over a month ago I lost my Blue Millefleur Belgian D'uccle rooster suddenly. I have no back up rooster. My hens weren't laying and my line was done for. Lo and behold one or two hens started laying for me a week later, and I took my chance. I grabbed and incubated every egg, candled, until there was no more fertility. These four are it. There are no more fertile Millefleur Belgian eggs. My line weighs heavily on one of them living up to their father. I've given them all I can and have everything crossedπ€
BlueJay got in some snuggles before we head off for a couple of days to the Blue Mountains... β€οΈ When we return we will be setting up our breeding pens and will begin to have chooks available from the following pens: * Splash/Blue Belgian D'uccle pek * Blue Mottle/Black Mottle Belgian D'uccle pen * 2x Splash Millefleur/Blue Millefleur/Millefleur Belgian D'uccle pens * 2x Chocolate Bantam Orpington pens * 2x Cream Legbar pens When I get back I will also have some Splash & Black Belgian D'uccle girls ready for new homes so keep an eye out for that π I will only ever post on this page what I have available and when, and will not be doing hold/wait-lists so please wait until these posts do pop up to message π Due to a new work/study commitment every Saturday, I will no longer be able to make the Perma Poultry Markets which is heartbreaking for me, as I love going. I will let people know where/how my birds will be available due to my new six day work week π«
One more sleep until the Perma-Poultry Markets! The babies had a big day free ranging yesterday prior to some getting ready to find new homes β€οΈ How do we prepare them to go? They are individually caught and checked over, lice & mite treated and wormed. Due to work we cannot hand raise/cuddle our babies regularly, but they are naturally quiet and easily bribed to become lap chickens if people prefer π We will be set up by 7.30am tomorrow for people to come and chat with us for more information. It is first in, first served, no reserves and prices on the day. We will have cash and EFTPOS facilities available for chickens, treats and nest blend. See everyone there! π
Our Splash, Blue & Black Belgian D'uccle pen love dust bathing π§Όπ I'd have to say they're my favourite Belgian group here β€οΈ
A video I received from a lovely lady who has 3 of our girls π₯° Seeing our beautiful chickens end up in amazing homes is all we care about We've met so many wonderful people through the Perma-Poultry Markets and our now our page, and it's great knowing our chookies end up with the best families to love them! Please share your own pictures or videos if you have any of our babies - we love to see how they're going βΊοΈ
Watching the bubs have an early morning feed. Apart from 4 chocolate Orpingtons going to their new home today, the rest will stay to grow out We won't have any further day olds available as we need to grow everything to fill our waitlist, and we won't take on anything further for our waitlist this season We look to breed for quality, not quantity, so we don't want to over promise to anyone. This is our biggest hatch of the season with 17 bubs If you are on our waitlist we will contact you but growing the babies to ensure you get pullets does take time and we appreciate your patience :)
Two of our chocolate bantam Orpingtons were smart enough to come and eat the dried treats I popped down for them. The others not so much π«£ We won't make it to the Perma-Poultry Markets this coming week due to work travel, but can confirm there are babies hatching as we type and treats bagged and ready for July :)
Who gets the most chicken bribery here? The cream legbar boys of course. Their personalities are to die for and they follow me around nonstop until I cave... #creamlegbar #chickens #poultry
When people ask me about Cream Legbars I often tell them they are typically a bit more flighty due to their leghorn genes. Apparently not as true for last season's growers who can't get enough of me. They come when called and enjoy a gentle pat. They are active free rangers and very brave and adventurous. At this stage these gals and guy are all keepers for this coming breeding season which will take off around April/May for us here with our older/established pens π
