Its Beltane in the southern hemisphere and Halloween (or Samhain) in the Northern hemisphere
It has been a while since I posted, this has been due to me dealing with a number of issue relating my health and how much I am juggling.
Two and a half years ago I decided to go back to school and fulfill my passion of animals specialising in horses. Where I can combine aromatherapy with animal health on a much deeper level. This decision was not made lightly and was based upon the results I have had with various conditions that were unexpected and also encouragement from veterinarians I have been lucky enough to work with.
My hope is to find what is going on to solidify the impact aromatherapy has on the health of not only humans but also animals. This is a extension to the studies I undertook in relation to aromatherapy and the chemistry of essential oils.
I am not 100% sure when I will be returning to full focus at Evoke but if you do need any assistance please reach out. If I can help I will.
Aromatherapy is not as easy as having an essential oil or a blend of essential oils there is much more to this amazing practice. Safety must always be considered, so I will start with safety and some possible effects that neat essential oils can have on the body ours and animals remember our animals cannot say I have a headache or that I feel crappy. Caution is always the best approach.
I might upset some, so warning in advance... there is a slight explanation with it. But honestly, the most not toxic way to clean is with steam, yet you need to watch out for burns. I guess nothing is 100% safe
There is so much talk about essential oils and toxicity... so let's play...

Aromatherapy for spiritual practice and growth
Sometimes creation is from the necessity of life
My love for animals has seen me learn more and more only to find there is lots more to learn. This passion has lead me to work on how aromatherapy works on the body ours and our pets, the impact to their quality of life and best ways to use Aromatherapy with greater effect.
This works into working with energy and aromatherapy to help support our pets
Sometimes working out content that can inform, entertain and not fry someone's mind because it's too in-depth can be difficult.
Extraction method used.
Plant health ties into soil quality. The part used for extracting oils and how they are harvested and the time of day when the plant is harvested.
Some oils are derived from the wood (bark, twig), leaves, fruit & berries, roots, grass, etc.
Time of day generally refers to when some plant oils "come to the surface" this is when their aroma comes and oil yeild is highest e.g. rose and jasmine blossom are harvested at night.
Soil health and quality ties into location yes but it is much more important than you'd think. These allow for the plant to attain the health and vitality needed to grow health and retain the chemical compositions that make oils so beneficial to the health and vitality of our animals and us.
Location has a huge impact upon the quality of a oil, whether a carrier or essential oil. It influences the chemical composition and fatty acid content of carrier oils, including vitamin and mineral content.
These differences can be easy smelt between Australian, French and Bulgaria lavenders. They are all the same species but the formation of their composition differs and each have a slight variation in their physical abilities e.g. French is excellent to support the emotions and skin problems in most cases. Whereas Australian lavender is better for pain yet very supportive for the emotions and skin. There is also a difference in the aroma and physical properties Australia lavender grown in Tasmania compared to the mainland.
Another interesting fact is that Australian natives have learned to adapt to our climate and need to dig deep to retrieve nutrients. Furthermore, these plants grow and thrive in a somewhat hostile environment therefore their microbial properties can be potent. There are many cases where our most prominent plants are grown over seas and the essence are derived from those as they are gentler.
As mentioned quality is important and comes in various forms. Over the next week or so, I will highlight a few factors that affect oil whether it is a carrier or essential oil.
Each factor potentially has a domino effect upon the other.
Aromatherapy is a magical tool given to us by Mother nature. It has the ability to aid in healing on multiple levels from the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies - this makes it a truly holistic method of healing.
Quality is more than sourcing ingredients. It's part of mastering the art and science of crafting aromatherapy blends and products. Quality comes in creating balanced blends ensuring the aromas sing as each individual note rises to meet your senses. Top not first, middle note next and final the base note that provides weight to to a blend.
Oil, whether it be carrier/base or essential quality makes all the difference.
I source my ingredients from several place ensuring that I source the very best I can. If you want the best results, use the best.
Aromatherapy is an exact science and precise art.
The science behind aromatherapy is etched in chemistry, specifically organic chemistry. This science has a direct impact upon the physical body altering chemical and hormonal messengers. Along with influencing cells including nutrition, health and vitality all associated with cell metabolism. These factors bring together physiology and biochemistry. We haven't even consider the microbial impact.
As an art, aromatherapy needs to be balanced a good blend will sign to the olfactory system. Much like musical notes to the ears or auditory system. It will contain the right carrier ingredients along with a precise number of drops of essential oils. The carrier oils/ingredients and essential oils will compliment and enhance the quality each other.
