Stockyard is thrilled to announce this month that its pinnacle beef brand, Kiwami by Stockyard took home two medals – Gold at the Sydney Fine Food Awards, achieving a total score of 93.67 out of a total 100, and was also crowned the 2023 winner of the fiercely contested Darling Downs Beef Battle.

Both winning Wagyu articles came from cattle, bred and raised by Ben Michelmore’s beef grazing operation, LC Wagyu (Leigh Cooper Trust) in Queensland and then finished at Stockyard’s Kerwee Feedlot.

“Part of the success of Stockyard’s long-standing award wins and consistent quality lies in the genetics of the animals in the supply chain. It makes partnering with key producers like Ben Michelmore from LC Wagyu, who offer consistently high-performing genetics, critical to our business,” said Stockyard’s Managing Director Lachie Hart.

Kiwami by Stockyard exemplifies the art of Wagyu craftsmanship, with marble scores of 9+, scores that exceed Australian standards. Stockyard’s Wagyu cattle are grain-fed for over 400 days at Kerwee Feedlot in sunny Jondaryan, on the famous Darling Downs in Queensland.

Stockyard breed, raise and feed premium grain-fed Wagyu and Angus cattle from their properties located in Queensland and New South Wales. Still 100% owned by the Hart family, Stockyard has been dedicated to bringing people together over outstanding beef since its inception in 1958.
