Someone asked me recently if I had any qualifications in what I do, or if I more so fell into the sector. I absolutely love working in marketing and my career path has been very much a deliberate choice [minus becoming a business owner, but what a wonderful fork in the road decision that turned out to be].

However, this conversation got me thinking and I would be so interested to know whether qualifications sway your choice these days or are you more concerned with the outcome when it comes to marketing?

Hey Instagram, stop making my pictures blurry! 📸

Did you know that when you upload a photo to Instagram, it goes through a compression process? This means it will load faster and consume less data for users, but it can sometimes result in a loss of image quality, making your pic appear like it was taken on a 3310 (IYKYK).

To minimise the impact of compression on your images:
▪️ Optimise Size: Before uploading, resize your images to fit Instagram's recommended dimensions (1080px by 1080px for square images, 1080px by 1350px for portrait, and 1080px by 608px for landscape).
▪️ JPEG Format: Save your images in JPEG format with a high quality setting. This format is better optimised for online sharing and tends to fare better with compression than other formats like PNG.
▪️ Contrast and Sharpness: Increasing contrast and sharpness slightly can help mitigate the effects of compression, making your images appear clearer on Instagram.

Last week news outlets reported that a well known Australian restaurant chain has been fined $2.5 million for sending more than 10 million spam marketing texts and emails in four months.

An ACMA investigation has found that over 5 MILLION texts and emails were sent to customers who did not provide permission or had unsubscribed from the chain's marketing channels.

A very handy reminder to us all that under The Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act), you can not send marketing material to an individual who has not provided direct permission for you to do so.
