Commersonia salviifolia - Sage-leaved Commersonia or Sage-Leaved Kerrawang. Family Bytttneriaceae / Malvaceae. An uncommon shrub usually occuring at alltitude on some of the peaks of SE QLD, including Mt Mee and Buderim - as its northern locations. Also occuring in the far north east of NSW. A fast growing and hardy shrub growing 2-4 metres with a graceful weaping form. The foliage is grey-green and they produce masses of perfumed flowers in spring, but can also carry scattered flowers throughout the year. Great for the bees! An exeptional local native addition to the garden.

Showstoppers at this time of year are the silvery inflorescence of the stunning Common Smokebush (Conospermum stoechadis) and the vibrant orange of Pileanthus rubrinitidus (Coppercups). Joining the party are Banksia asbhyi subsp. boreoscaia, Grevillea didymobotrya, Conostylis candicans (Grey Cottonhead), Melaleuca holidayii and Anigozanthos hybrids - to name a few!

These are tough WA natives, able to survive a dry, hot environment and still put on a great display, while being suited to being pruned to maintain a suitable height for the roundabout.

Okay, protea lovers 💕 You can probably guess what protea this is, but what about the rest?

Are you surprised to know that the infamous Sugarbush or Protea repens, was South Africa's national flower until 1976? Perhaps even more surprising is it got its common name, Sugarbush, from the abundance of sweet nectar the blooms produce.

These open, funnel-shaped flowers range in colors from red to white + even two-tones (like these beauties) with some that flare open in a very spectacular fashion. 🍃🌸🌸🌸🍃

It's superbly alluring.
