Starting en pointe is such an exciting milestone for ballet students, but it is important to approach the journey with care. Move Pure is here to guide your students en pointe safely. Lauren is a qualified physiotherapist with years of dance experience and treatment of dancers. She has performed countless pointe assessments and seen many grow and transition onto pointe.
✨What is involved?
In the Initial Pre Pointe Assessment, the student will be assessed in detail to determine their readiness for pointe. Pointe/plié range, foot control, ankle strength, pelvic control and turn out will all be assessed. Following the assessment Lauren will complete a report to send to the student and teacher outlining areas of improvement along with prescribed exercises or the approval if ready.
✨When should students visit Lauren?
It is recommended students aged 11 or older are more suitable to begin the journey on to pointe. Any younger puts the dancer at risk of damaging the growth plates in their feet. However, some younger students are strong enough to support the growing bones in their feet and can be carefully considered to progress on to pointe early.
For those looking to complete their intermediate foundation exam next year, it is the perfect time to start the process and be seen by Lauren.

What makes me (MovePure) different to others? 🤍
I am a Physiotherapist with an extensive background and knowledge in dance.
- I completed my full time years at learning repertoires from Giselle, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty and more. Here I completed all my RAD exams.
- I spent my professional and pre-professional years at The Queensland Ballet
With this background entwined with my knowledge of the body I took it further to complete all my Pilates Qualifications 💪🏼
So now you have an ex professional ballerina with a Masters in Physiotherapy from Sydney University with qualified Pilates training.
Just to take it that next step further, I wanted to explore the Body and Mind and dived into the dynamic movements of Yoga. After spending a month in the hills of India I am a qualified Yoga instructor. This is a considerable adjunct to my experience, degrees and Pilates training allowing the exploration of movement beneficial to dance.
