New Team Member!!
is happy to announce that as of next week, Tori McArdle will be available to see patients Monday/Wednesday/Friday!

We first met Tori years ago as a student, when she was so interested in sports physio, she was coming in to the clinic in her own time to learn as much as she could.

She has special interests in field sport athletes, female athletes, runners, CrossFit enthusiasts, and general gym-goers. She’s also excited to now be the NRLW assistant physio with the Knights!

With appointments available online now, head to the website to get on top of your niggles and get back to what you love!

Footy season =syndesmosis season. Surgical repair doesn’t need to mean a long period out of the game. Wounds are healed so we get going!!

In honour of those who made the ultimate sacrifice PSP is closed the 25th April, Anzac Day.
🌹

23/04/2024

It’s great to have a few results rolling in from some patients who put in a massive effort over the weekend! To us it demonstrates how strong they are physically, but also mentally to deal with the niggles in the lead up to the marathon!👏👏👏

08/04/2024

In very sad news, PSP bids farewell to as he embarks on his next chapter in NZ. We wish him all the best, we’ll miss him here but we know he’ll be brilliant in his new role in windy Wellington!

Thanks Beau

The benefits of progressive loading on bone health

It’s well documented that appropriate dosage of resistance training improves bone health.

Here is an example of a complex tib/fib fracture that when initially reviewed, had been completing no strength program. A repeat image following a block of strength training demonstrates further callus formation and a reduction in the fracture line.

Credit to the patient and the hard work he’s put in 👏👏👏

Just a reminder, this coming Wednesday is our first sports taping course run .

The course will cover all the generic common taping techniques needed as a sports trainer/sports physio, such as ankle, knee and shoulder instability. But it will also touch on some tips and tricks unique to the injuries picked up over many years working at the NRL and International rugby league level, such as syndesmosis taping, turf toe taping, pec major protection etc.

See the last slide on how to rsvp!

High ankle or Syndesmosis vs normal ankle sprain.

Unfortunately, PSP had a young rugby league athlete present with this swollen ankle yesterday after an incident at training.

The picture demonstrates the higher area of swelling (yellow circle) than the classic lateral ankle sprain (in blue)

This unfortunately means completely different management, but with quick intervention, RTP can be as short as 5-7 weeks, even with surgery.

If you have a difficult ankle or any other sporting complaint, head online to book in today

After a couple of enquires re taping workshops PSP is going to run two prior to this weekends winter seasons!

Split into upper and lower body taping techniques the course will cover some of the tips and tricks utilised at the elite sport level from Phil’s time in the NRL and international rugby league.
