Our Mover and Mighty Tappers are stand alone classes that are based off the LGTDA (Les Griffith Tap Dancing Association) Syllabus which we teach throughout our studio. These classes are based on the student's ability to ensure it meets their skills and technical abilities and progression as well as challenging students with its intricate rhythms and combinations.

With the inclusion of DanceStep at MJDS, our young dancers have a framework where they can contribute to the community in a positive way.

Past students of the DanceStep program have experienced increased levels of confidence and have learnt patience, empathy, communication skills and how to take initiative in different situations.

As affiliate members of the DanceStep program it is wonderful for us to be able to provide this opportunity for our dancers to flourish not only as young people, but to also watch them grow into competent and confident assistant teachers and student leaders.

Our Tweens classes are captivating lessons with the latest music and the use of fun and engaging props worked into an obstacle course for full participation, coordination and stability.

The Discover Dance Early Childhood Program is a series of movement classes designed to introduce children to the creative and expressive world of dance. Music, movement, visuals, and props will enhance your dancer’s love of the art form and the unique conceptual approach to dance education will provide the opportunity for cognitive growth.

What is AcroDance??

It is a genre of dance which seamlessly fuses elements of lyrical gymnastics tricks, balancing, tumbling, and jazz. Students learn Acrobatic tricks such as handstands, cartwheels, chest stands, elbow stands, walkovers, side and front aerials, and tumbling lines.

We have classes available for ages 2 years and up!

Our EP Cheer and Dance Placement Day is on TOMORROW Tuesday 12th December where we would like to invite all of our committed students wanting to join the Enhancement Program to come and be placed in a team.

We will be holding our annual EP Placement Day to ensure everyone is placed in the correct team, with age, ability and skill level taken into account. This is a great opportunity for students to become familiar with team dance styles (Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Pom) and/or cheer skills, tumble and working in different stunt groups. It is also an exciting opportunity to interact with other students in a fun and supportive enviornment and further progress and develop in their technique.

Here at MJDS, we feel that all students have the potential to be a great dancer and performer, and that our Enhancement Dance Team experience will only furthermore develop your love of dance and passion for performing. We are so excited to be able to offer these opportunities to our students and believe it strengthens our dance family and gives students more confidence, experience, increased strength and skills and most importantly, teamwork!

We also love the fact that the core of our studio is performing and sharing our love of dance, which allows our EP Dancers to not only compete in local competitions, but have the opportunity to also partake in local eisteddfods and local community performances. Our EP dancers will also participate in our annual Dance Explosion Concert at the end of the year and truly experience the heart of what Maxi-Jazz has been known and loved for over 35 years.
