We have had a number of our juniors complete these courses and graduate into the umpiring ranks over the last few years.

A great way to increase your knowledge of the game and earn some money at the same time.

The Community Officiating Accreditation Workshops are back for 2024!

The NJCA are teaming up again with the wonderful Claire Polosak, Australian cricket umpire, and are offering 2 dates for the Community Officiating Course:
** Monday 9 September
OR
** Wednesday 11 September^
--> Both courses are 6pm at Club Charlestown.
(^ The Wednesday course is subject to minimum numbers)

Participants will also need to attend the NJCA Rules evening:
** Monday 16 September
--> Also 6pm, Club Charlestown
(This is only for participants who want to umpire NJCA fixtures).

*** Newcastle Junior Cricketers ***

You are invited to participate in the inaugural Cricket NSW Junior Winter Cricket League – Newcastle.

This exciting new cricket league is open to young cricketers from across the region and aimed at keeping the cricketing spirit alive all year round, with Winter Junior Cricket now being played across Metro and Regional NSW.

Below are the competitions dates, along with the locations.

1. 6-week T20 Format Competition U10 / U12 / U14 / U16 Age Groups
2. All Girls Competition
3. Between Sunday 5 May to Sunday 30 June 2024*
4. No game Sunday 9 June due to Kings Birthday Long Weekend

*Additional dates have been allowed for washouts and ground unavailability on 19th May 2024)

Competition Playing Locations:
1. Allen Davis Field and Ernie Calland Field, Gateshead
2. Pickering Oval, Adamstown Heights

Competition Age Groups:
This competition will cater for the following age groups:
1. U10 Mixed (Boys & Girls)
2. U12 Mixed (Boys & Girls)
3. U14 Mixed (Boys & Girls)
4. U16 Mixed (Boys & Girls)
5. U12 All Girls
6. U14 All Girls
7. U18 All Girls

Players will register to the competition and be placed into teams by the Competition Coordinator and can nominate the names of friends they wish to play with, and all efforts will be made to place players in teams with their friends. Teams will be required to provide a coach or manager, scorer, stumps and boundary markers. Players need to provide own playing equipment.
Uniforms are not compulsory however if teams have a club affiliation club shirts are welcomed.

Newcastle Cricket Zone

Despite some great efforts, unfortunately our junior teams didn't get across the line in this weekends semi finals.

Some massive improvements in our junior kids this year across our whole club that we will celebrate at the presentation.

We will announce a date for presentation day soon. Please see the summaries about the games on the weekend below

U10 Navy team
Navy team had a fantastic season going undefeated all season. It was a great semifinal and all around, a really good game of cricket with highs and lows but in the end it just wasn’t our day and unfortunately we went down to Charlestown.

U10 Red team
Under 10s Red. Tied score against Stockton. Our 3rd tie of the season. Because Stockton were above us on the table, they went through the final. Great game to finish the season, packed with DRAMA and excellent performances when it counted.

U11s Mixed
U11s didn't get the chocolates today. Boys had one of their better games of the season but it wasn't enough against a talented Lake Mac side
