Our Prep were lucky enough on Wednesday to have a visit from Year 11 students from Matthew Flinder’s. The students are studying VCE units 1 &2 in English Language. Part of their visit was to explore children’s language through working with the students in reading. We all had such a great time, that they will be visiting again ☺️
We would like to express our thanks and give a shout out to Palm Life https://palmlife.com.au/ for expertly completing the relocation of our very special Gallipoli Oak. It now has pride of place at the front of the school, next to our new flagpoles.
Palm Life completed this project at no cost to support the preservation of this special specimen and continue the 'mateship' of the ANZACs.
Have you seen…? Our NEW School Logo printed on our Basketball Court? Last Friday, we had the remaining line markings completed from our initial plans which included a giant logo placed in the centre of our Basketball Court, and it looks fantastic! Further line marking will take place this term to make our grounds even more vibrant and colourful!
Did you know… we have 2 VERY special tress at NPS that commemorate the ANZAC legacy and our schools involvement in the Great War? The first is our Gallipoli Oak situated at the front of the school (after having been relocated on Wednesday) and our Lone Pine located at the rear of the school. Both trees are descendant from Gallipoli in Türkiye. We also have an honour board naming all past students who took up arms and went off to fight in the Great War. We have a very deep and rich history as a school and are very proud of our connections to the ANZAC spirit.
Today we paused to reflect on the meaning of Anzac Day. We recognised the impact of the ultimate sacrifice and honoured the service members who lost their lives. Thanks to (Sloan’s mum) for kindly donating this year’s wreath. Lest We Forget.
Our amazing school captains and Mr Barclay had a terrific morning at the Annual Young Leaders Breakfast hosted by A huge thank you to Anthea Brown for being the amazing guest speaker. Anthea is an artist, activist for Indigenous rights and education and was the first women, and youngest ever person, to be Prime Minister of the National Indigenous Youth Parliament.
